Possible Names

These are the possible combinations we've been pondering lately. We're certainly open to other combinations, and there are a few names on our "Agreed upon" list that aren't found in the combinations below (Catherine, Jacinthe, and Savannah). So...thoughts?

I'm having pangs of regret again that Hubby vetoed Tallulah. My mom told me yesterday that she really likes it, so I got sad all over again. But Hubby has reconsidered Aurora, which makes up for the loss of Tallulah.

i really like the name cedric too, but i got told it was too "ethnic"...whatever that means. :(

I think it'd be sort of weird for us (we're both of western/northern European descent) to use a Japanese name or something, but...Cedric? I have no idea what race that would even be supposedly limited to. Huh.

I do. Some names, I believe, just fit one race a lot better than others. The names Jada, Devonte, and Aniyah, I know, are never ever found on Caucasian babies (if so I've never met one, here in DC or in Boston), and I've never met an African-American Emily or Axel.

I know a white Jada and an African-American Emily. There are definitely strong naming trends in different demographics, but I wouldn't say "never ever".

Ethnic is a polite way of saying that the name is largely used by specific races of people that aren't white. Kind of a "polite" way of trying to say something sort of mean. :D

When I hear "Cedric", I think of Cedric The Entertainer, who is black. *shrug*

yeah, i always think of cedric bixler...this guy i grew up with in el paso who went on do be in some fairly popular indie bands...but the boy thinks of cedric the entertainer and therefore has deemed the name too "black" for baby. :(

I like Brennan Zane for a boy. Zane is one of my top ten for boys. I like Cedric, but it's sooo Harry Potter to me. I'm a huge Harry fan, and I liked the character, but he wasn't my favorite.

For a girl, I like Aislin, Aurora Jade and Gwenevere Rose. Jade is a favorite of mine and the name of a good, good friend.

I LOVE the names Aurora and Kaia. I prefer Kaia Rose and Aurora Noelle, but that's just me.

Thanks! I like Noelle, but it seems a little odd to use for a baby born in summer. Aurora is my absolute favorite girl name.

I prefer it spelled Guinevere, too, but Hubby was adamant that if we're going to use it, it will be spelled Gwenevere. I don't mind that much (at least it's a legitmate spelling), so there we are. He wouldn't go for the original Gwenhwyfar, either, lol.

I like Teagan for the boys name and I like Savannah... have you thought about the names Drake or Sabastian for a boy......I also like the name Sabra (pronounced SAYBRA) for a girl....or maybe Genaveve (sp?)stick with the unusual names..i think they are prettier and old fashion names are coming back in style....my 7month old daughters name is Zahn (after her great-great grandmother)

I love Sebastien and Genevieve, but my sister-in-law has stated that if she has another son, he will be Bastian, so I didn't want to "steal," you know? And Hubby doesn't like any of the nicknames I like for Genevieve, so it's probably easier to just skip it (though it was in the running for a while). I like both Drake and Sabra, but they both feel a little short to me, like they should be nicknames or something.

Zahn is interesting; I've never heard it as a given name before.

I like David, James, Cedric, and Brennan as first names. I also kind of like Gavin, and I don't think Owen is bad, it's just not my style. I'd go with David Owen or James Alexander.

For girls, I like Amelie the best. I'm not really a fan of any of the first names, except possibly Kaia. I like Amelie a lot, though, and I like Isabelle, Jade, Rose, and Celeste.

I LOVE Jacinthe ... my Mom had a kid with this name in her class a couple years ago, and she was the most adorable child in the world hehe.

I love the idea of Jade as a middle name for a girl. It's so pretty. I really like some of the combo's you don't have: Isabelle Jade, Savannah Jade. I also like Aurora Jade, but keep thinking of Disney's Sleeping Beauty. Kaia is also a gorgeous name.

As for boys, I like Owen and James.

All the girls names just kind of scream like, melodramatic soap opera to me. I like Savannah Jade would be the best-sounding name. The boys names are much more calm, and much nicer, to me. But that's just me.
