My husband is from The Deep South, and has a younger sister who is due in July.  They are having a boy, and they are naming him:

Tucker Lee.

I don't think Tucker is bad by itself, but they are planning on calling him Tucker Lee.  To me, this is white trash just waiting to happen.  Anyone else agree?  Disagree?

And what's the most redneck name you've ever heard?

I think it sounds southern, but not in a bad way. I actually really like it. They'll probably end up shortening it to just Tucker, or even Tuck, or at least it will be in school. I've considered that name:)

The most redneck name I've heard is Daryl Bob. No joke. It's awful.

Oh my gosh, I lol'd when I read Daryl Bob.

Someone who I'm related to (my dad's cousin's child, I don't know what that official title for me would be) is named Travis Colton. His mom calls him that. That's an awfully long name, and it screams YEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWW to me. They are a big huntin' sort of family, not really cowboyish though.

Travis Colton is your first cousin once removed.

Travis Colton would actually be her second cousin - dad's cousin would be her first cousin once removed, and dad's cousin's child (same generation as her) would be her second cousin. :)

ugh i hate redneck names. i think pretty much any womans name immediately sounds very redneck if jo or something is added to the end of it, like mary jo. also, crystal is SUCH a white trash name, it screams stripper. terry on a girl or a boy sounds redneck to me as well.

as for more common boys names, dustin, wyatt, and travis all sound very redneck to me.

i used to know boys named joe bob and john-john in high school.

As a born-and-raised Georgia peach, I am a little biased, but I like Tucker Lee. Trust me... that is not nearly the most redneck name I've heard.

Junior is one. Like, his NAME was Junior.
Travis Gamewell, *pulls out yearbook* Brookes, Grayson, Briley, Logan Ray... those are just the BOYS.

I was wondering if I was going to be the only born and raised southerner to comment on this...Alabama chick here, though I spent middle school/high school in Georgia...

But. Tucker Lee doesn't bother me that much really.

My Uncle's Ex Wife's Father's name was Bubba. Not short for anything, just Bubba.

I know some Bubbas, but luckily they were only nicknames. The main one I can think of was Christopher. Such a nice name and he CHOSE to be called Bubba. Also I knew a guy whose little brother went by Buddha, because he wanted to stand out from the Bubbas.

Oh yes, and another boy,
with red hair, called, are you ready?

Red

Again, not kidding, he's the grandson of the
newspaper editor in my town. Sigh....

There was a Beth-Joy in my uni class. I always thought it sounded redneckish.

Reminds me of Grey's Anatomy more than anything else (Tucker is the name of Bailey's husband, Tucker jr is her son).

Tucker Lee isn't quite so bad...but it does seem a bit much to use the whole thing at one time.

Oh, and my sister's were in a pageant one year and one of the little girls was named Daisy Mae...and her favorite food was fried chicken....

I have a coworker with a child named Tucker Lee. Lee in that case is the last name, though, and Tucker is my coworker's middle name. It sounds reeeal downhome to me, but not in a bad way (though I'd never use Tucker, myself).

I actually like the name Tucker and do believe that eventually they'll go with just using that name only.

The name that always struck me as redneck is Carl Bobby

I had a friend in high school named Charlie Raye (a girl, not a guy).

I'm surrounded by rednecks, so I should be able to think of more names, but I can't...

It's not the worst. I wouldn't pick it, though.

My bf is from Arkansas and has an uncle named Cleon. His maternal grandma is Glyva Jo... Though I guess that's not redneck. That's a pretty southern-sounding name. But CLEON.

I don't like Tucker, because it rhymes with... well, you get the picture. My inner 12-year-old can't disassociate the two.

My step-cousin in Alabama is named Amberlee or Amberleigh, I can't remember how it's spelled, but it's pronounced like the two names smooshed together. I think it sounds southern, but I actually think it's pretty.

A girl I went to high school with has a son.... Chevy Gage.

Yup, that's pretty redneck right there.

Mine would probably be Bobbie-Sue. I think that's how it's spelled.
