I was flipping through the paper today, came upon the births section and saw this name:
Aynslie
While my mind was still boggling from that I read her older sister's name: Eloise.
How the hell did her parents go from Eloise to Aynslie???

Eloise and Ainsley wouldn't be so bad. The misspelling is what makes it awful.

I think they just got a little dyslexic with Ainsley. That's a shame. Ainsley and Eloise would be a nice sibset.

Eloise is her step-sister? Took me a long time to figure out it was Ainsley.

You used to be able to tell families with step-kids by the names - one half would be Elizabeth and Christopher, the other Todd, Tiff and Cindy. Then the new set of parents would have another and name it Star or something.

agreed. a friend of my mom's did the Brady Bunch thing, only the mom had three boys and the dad had four girls. Names:

boys - david, mark, alex
girls - twylla, shaunee, kitana, jade.

come to think of it, Jade might be their only child together, but regardless, there's a HUGE difference in the names!

My name is Ainsley, and I am crying over the way they've butchered my name :P What is that about? Terrible, terrible, terrible.

You know, I remember a post a long while back where you were encouraged to take a normal name and try and find as many creative spellings that you could. I didn't even think of Aynslie.

I think Eloise is awful in a "Not my style" kind of way, while Aynslie is awful in a "what the fuck were you thinking when you spelled that?" kind of way, so I think that's what was meant by the OP (and by those who agreed). At least that's what surprised me. I mean, I don't like Eloise, either, but it's a decent name when it comes right down to it, and Aynslie is just awful.

I guess I'll just be the minority who doesn't see anything wrong with Aynslie? Both of those names are really cute, and really good together.

I prefer Ainsley. It looks much better.

Ainsley is part of a cute sibset I know:

Ainsley
Emily
Isabella
Elizabeth
Abigail

I had to look at that name for a good minute before I could figure it out! That spelling is just....UGH. What a way to ruin a name.

I mean, I'm not a fan of Eloise, but Aynslie??? What the hell? What's wrong with Ainsley?

I love the name Ainsley. Not a fan of Eloise, though.

Man, took me a minute to try and sound that one out and figure out how to actually say it... Ainsley is a cute name, decent enough... but Aynslie... WTF?

It's the spelling. I think it's a good sibset otherwise.

Ainsley, maybe?

I like the name Aynslie - but not the spelling. The only person I've known with that name spelled it Ainslee, which is definitely a little easier to figure out.
