My soon-to-be step daughter, Jordyn, is obsessed with the idea of having a sister named after a disney princess.

How do you feel about those names?

Aurora
Ariel
Belle
Jasmine

And other disney names that arent coming to mind right now.

Belle is nice. Can also be short for Isabelle.

Aurora, Ariel, and Jasmine, are all really overused and pretentious :/

I do like Jasmine, though.

Does she like Alice? Or does Alice not count as a princess?

You know people named Aurora? I have never in my life met anyone named Aurora. Ariel and Jasmine yes, though. My MIL's dog is named Jasmine too.

The only one of those I like for children is Aurora, but personally, I think it's hard to say. The "r"'s get stuck in your mouth. Belle is cute if it's short for Isabelle/a. And I don't like Ariel and Jasmine for personal reasons (I worked with kids for awhile and knew horrible ones with those names) and I think they scream "Disney."

I think it's hard to say as well.

I LOVE them! My favorites ones for Disney Princesses are Ariel, Jasmine and Belle. My non favorite Princess names I LOVE are Shanti, Olivia spelled Alyvia, and Lilo.

I also LOVE Alice, but it's because of Disney's Adventures in Wonderland, not the Disney movie. But I prefer Alison to be spelled Alicen.

Fiona too. I heart that name.

I like Jasmine. I know a little girl named that and she is a doll!

You could also use Briar, Rose, (Aurora's assumed name was Briar Rose).
Ariel's sisters are also princesses. Their names are: Adella, Alana, Andrina, Aquata, Arista, & Attina.

Just a few more options. I love the names Belle & Aurora, though, of the four.

I love the name Aurora!

My husband and I were considering naming our daughter this and using Rory as a nickname. We ended up naming our daughter Liliana instead :)

If you're not feeling the Disney names, Belle is a good nickname because it means "Beauty". I habitually call girls/women close to me Bella, regardless of their name.

I really don't like Aurora as a real life name, for the same reason someone previous said about it being hard to say. It's like there aren't enough consonants in it or something. And I can only imagine how difficult it would be for a toddler to learn to say her own name. The others you mentioned are okay. My favorite Disney princess name is Giselle from Enchanted though :) I was actually kind of upset when they decided to use that name for the character because I was afraid it would become too popular! I like Megara, too, even though she's not actually a princess. There's also a new Disney princess movie in production with a princess named Tiana.

I like Briar/Briar Rose better, if you go princess. Aurora would be my second favourite.

Other Disney names that aren't princesses, but might fly:

Adelaide (Aristocats)
Alice (Alice in Wonderland)
Audrey (Atlantis)
Bianca (Rescuers)
Ena (Bambi)
Olivia (The Great Mouse Detective)
Dory (Nemo)
Jessie (Toy Story 2)
Flora (Sleeping Beauty)
Marian (Robin Hood)
Penny (Rescuers)
Perla (Cinderella)
Violet (The Incredibles)

Also, Marie and Amelia from Aristocats.

And Belle. LOVE Belle!

I really dislike the name Jasmine on anyone besides the princess. I dono it seems kind of... trashy to me.

Ariel is cute but I think that might have too high of an association with the mermaid. I think Belle would work well. Would Giselle from Enchanted count? That's a cute name too.

More Disney Names

I like all four you've suggested -- and if I'm honest, I like all four significantly more than Jordyn. Aurora's maybe the least wonderful of the four, because -- although it also is a natural phenomenon and thus has the best meaning -- it is a bit mouth-full-of-marbles, really.

I think Ariel is very pretty. I don't necessarily associate it with the mermaid, maybe because I didn't I watch the movie that much. I like Belle, too.

I think it'd be interesting to have the first and middle name mean snow and white, for Snow White, of course.

Aurora basically makes me cringe. I think that it's awful, and probably only fitting for a Disney princess. I know an Ariel and a Jasmine, and while Ariel does make me think of the princess, Jasmine never does. Belle is an okay name, but I don't like it.

I don't know if I'd never name my kid after a Disney princess, especially if it was a little/young(?) girl who wanted it. I can only guess that they won't always be obsessed with it.

I agree with this. Kids grow out of their obsessions about as fast as they grow out of their clothes. I, on the other hand, am dealing with a fiance who's obsessed with Trailer Park Boys - not something he appears to be outgrowing any time soon... I've already had to nix the names Ricky and Julian. Bubbles isn't an issue, since he already named our lizard that.

Meg (Megara)
Ella (for Cinderella)
Alice
Audrey
Helga
Wendy
Melody
Bianca

(not technically Disney)
Anastasia
Crysta
Anne-Marie
Amalthea
Odette

Aurora is beautiful but little kids often have trouble with the letter R so it might be Auwowa for a while!
