Does the name Willow remind you too much of Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

My fiance is William, so I thought this might be a cute way to name our daughter after him without using Willa or Wilhelmina.

No, but I never got into the series myself. :( I just... couldn't.

When I thought of the name Cordelia, everyone told me of the Buffy connection, and it made me downright sad... Bleh. I bet you'll get just as many 'yeses' as I did though, but hell, it's a cute name. Down with fandom.

I don't think that show at all. I think of that creepy movie from the 80's Willow.

I agree.
It's such a great movie.
When I was a little girl I had a crush on Airk. Mad Martigan wasn't too bad either!

Haha, when I had a list of names, Josh was going down why he hated each one.

When he came to Willow, he said "short person, ugh...."

I really really like it. Though i was never into buffy. I don't think there's anything bad about naming your daughter Willow, the show isn't even on anymore :P

It does remind me of Buffy but it's still a nice name. I bet by the time she's older no one will associate it with that anymore.

I never watched Buffy, so no. I think it's cute, like Will & Jada Smith did with Willow and Jaden. :-)

a lá Will Smith.

Willow is pretty.. I'd go for middle name status for family honourings though.

That flows so well, really pretty :-)

I love Caitlin, but it's so popular with all the Katelin/Caitlyn/Kaitlynn variations.. Caitlin is definitely the prettiest and classiest IMO.

We almost named our daughter Willow. I love it. The only reason we didn't was because it didn't sound the best with our last name. I don't think it's too buffy at all.

I never watched "Buffy," but, yes, that's the first thing that comes to mind.

I never watched Buffy, so there's no association for me there. I think of Will Smith's kids. lol

I like it though!

Willow doesn't really make me think of Buffy, I think of the tree first. But either way, it's still a pretty name. By the time this kid's in Kindergarten, nobody will be very familiar with Buffy. My mom's friend named her daughter Mallory after Family Ties, but very few people make that connection now like they did in 1990 when Mallory was born.

I really like it, you could also consider Willa if your concerned about the buffy thing.

Will Smith did that. I think Willow is a very hippy name, which is fine. It doesn't make me think of William at all, which is also fine. It doesn't have to be obvious you named your daughter after her dad.

I was a huge buffy fan, so it's the first thing that jumps to mind. That said, I think it's something that will fade in time now that the show's finished - I wouldn't expect any of her friends to make the accosiation, for example.

I love Willa!

I've probably only seen Buffy once, so I don't think of it. I think of my cat, who is named Willow and I named her after a street sign.

I actually think Wilhemina is a beautiful name and I think "Mina" is a very cute nickname. You could also consider "Billie," although that might be a little too old-fashioned for you.

For me, I just think of Willow from the fantasy movie of the same title.

There's nothing wrong with Willow - it was a name long before Buffy, and in thirty years, nobody is going to make that connection anymore. Just as long as you don't do what a couple did to their daughter - I kid you not, I found it in the birth notices of the Herald Sun (Victoria, Australia) last month - Buffy Willow. Fandom much?

Well, I've never watched an episode of Buffy in my life, so no, I wouldn't immediately associate the name with it. I actually really like Willow, as opposed to Willa or Wilhelmina. If you both like the name, you should go with it.
