HOW DO YOU PRONOUNCE THE FOLLOWING
Apr. 30th, 2008 08:27 pmKeira
Kiera
Ciara
Kiara
Kira
Chiara
Peronally, I pronounce them all except Keira and Chiara like Ciaran without the "n" (like, Keera) unless told otherwise. Chiara I pronouce like Key-ah-ra and Keira I pronounce like Keira Knightley does, Key-air-uh. However I am 99% sure I'm prounouncing half of them wrong.
PS are they all forms of Claire?

Ciara Sierra
Kiara Key-ARE-uh

I'm sure I'm saying a few of them wrong. Personally, I can't stand any sort of "Keira" name, to me they all sound trashy.

...My name is Kirra, and I live in the shadow of Mt. Keira, so I'm very set in how names like that are said.
And they have nothing to do with Clare, they're either derived from Ciara - "Dark woman", which is derived from Ciaran, or they come from the Persian - "Light", Russian - "Sunshine" or Aboriginal - "Leaf".

Date: 2008-05-01 05:51 pm (UTC)Not entirely sure how anyone gets 'key-air-uh' from Keira (I am British, so hear the name in context of Ms. Knightley and otherwise)
Chiara is an Italian variation of Claire; the others aren't remotely close.
