One of my favorite books of all time is LM Montgomery's Emily of New Moon. In the book, Emily Starr has a friend named: Ilse.

It's a German form of Elisabeth, and the name of German princess in legend. I've heard it pronounced "EEL-sa" or "IL-sa" or "IL-za." I'm not expecting and I definitely don't plan on naming my child Ilse, but I think its an interesting name. What does everyone think of this name? I'm thinking it might make a comeback since Germanic names like Matilda are making a comeback lately.

S's are usually pronounced like z's in German, and i's like e's, so I'd say EELza. It's pretty but it sounds sort of like you're trying to say Eliza but messing it up, lol.
