Date: 2008-04-20 12:20 pm (UTC)-Julia: it sooooo grew on me after becoming addicted to Nip/Tuck. I really like it now!
-Grace: very pretty, but too much of a filler middle name these days.
-Scarlett: I'm abivalent about this one. I like the sound, I don't like that it has "scar" in it. I'd see the point in Scarlet, because of the color, but I'm not really sure what the extra 't' is there for. It does look better on paper with the double t.
-Tristan: it means "sad". I really don't see how it even became a name, outside of Tristan and Isolda (Isotta, Yseutz, whatever her name was).
-Damien: hmm. It sounds unstable, like it could be mistaken for Damon, or others. I prefer it spelled Damian (I think).
-Chad: nay, nay, nay. Too nicknamish and "cool guy next door from the 80's". Chadwick isn't any better, though.
-Ryder: makes me think of "rider". Meaning that to me it's like those "job names", Parker, Trayer, Hunter. Why?

Date: 2008-04-20 12:58 pm (UTC)Not a fan of Tristan or Chad, but I like Damien and James. James is one of those strong, classic names.
I actually prefer Ryder on a girl. Don't know why though.

Date: 2008-04-20 01:01 pm (UTC)-Julia - Ultimately, too common for my taste, but I do think it's pretty and sweet.
-Grace - Hate it. Too overused and not that great in the first place, imo.
-Scarlett - I don't care for the sound in general, but specifically the word "scar." I much prefer Charlotte.
-Tristan - Makes me think "sad." I really dislike it.
-Damien - Ok, but tied to a bad association for me. One of the bullies in my own jr high was a awful boy named Damien.
-James - A nice classic. I like it as a full first name with no nns like Jim or Jamey. I dislike when James is used as a mn. It becomes very boring in that spot.
-Chad - Very 80s. Not quite cool enough to be retro.
-Ryder - So dramatic and silly-sounding.

Date: 2008-04-20 07:19 pm (UTC)For the boys, I like James and Damien. Tristan has always seemed kind of . . . too feminine? I don't know. I'm not saying that I think it's a girl's name, because it's totally too masculine for a girl. But I think it sounds too much like Kristin to be used on a boy. Maybe it's just me, though. Chad is okay, but Ryder is very trendy sounding.
