My French teacher's name is Virginia. She has gone by the nickname, Gini, ever since she was a young girl.

Personally, I love the way she spells her nickname. It's different than the generic Ginny. What do you guys think?

I didn't realize it was supposed to be pronounced the same way as Ginny. I saw something more like genie.

I swear to goodness that everytime I bring up a potential name with my SO (I'm NOT expecting, just love names), it shows up here the next day.

Literally the next day.

I personally like Ginny more, but I don't like things with too many i's. They look too juvenile or something.

I like Virginia okay, but not Gini. I'd probably mispronounce it, and it looks incomplete to me. I don't really like Ginny either, though.

I like the name Jeanie, spelled Jeanie. That is how I've always liked it spelled.

The only reason I would possibly like it is because Gini is actually located in Virginia. I'm not a fan of Gini, and it's too close to my name nickname of Jenny.

my boyfriends dog (therefore, my dog, heehee) is named virginia. she has always gone strictly by virginia (well until i met her, and i have taken to calling her "miss v") so anyway, i like the name, i think its very pretty.

I don't like that spelling, I much prefer Ginny.

it's cute if you like names ending in "i"

I just can't get behind names that end in -i.

Love Virginia, though. Wish my husband's last name didn't start with V. Virginia Verdier (or Vivian Verdier, another of my favorites) just is too much vuh-vuh-vuh-v.
