I saw some kids at the park today and one of the boys was named Jasper. Surprisingly I found that I really liked it. It fit the kid well. WdYT?

This actually used to be a favorite of mine a number of years ago, but I kind of went off it. I found it too hipster-trendy after meeting a couple little hipster babies by the name. It's still pretty high on my list... I just like other names better these days.

I live about 2 hours from Jasper, Texas so that name is pretty out for me. Jasper doesn't exactly have the best past and living so close to it, people could assume the name had something to do with the town. Not to mention my grandparents live about 15 minutes outside of Jasper and my aunt has a lake house up there that we visit often and Jasper is the only town that is close that has a grocery store or anything.

Outside of that, I'm not particularly fond of the name. I'm not entirely sure if that's just because of the town or not, though, because I've known the town my entire life.

I love it, but don't think I'll get to use it on one of my own kids (I have too many more-loved names ahead of it!) I have decided to name my first dog, a golden labrador, Jasper. That way I still get to use it on a *family* member, and my pup doesn't end up with a name like 'Fido' or something equally blah.
