Very different. It sounds pretty, but I imagine it's a pain to have to teach everyone she meets how to say/spell it.

Not that I know of. I would say Matea as Muh-TAY-yuh.

This is Mee-TAH (as in say ahhhh)- yah.

At first glance, I thought it was pronounced:
"Mia-Taya" like Mee-yah Tah-yah. THen I reread, "Miata-ya"

If we are reading this name differently can you imagine your daughter explaining the pronounciation or spelling?
But it does sounds lovely.
