it sounds really cool!!
the only tiny, tiny, tiny glitch for me would be the idea of people asking if Xander is short for Alexander or not.

I guess I would go with Alexander Gabriel and then call him Xander. Then in that case maybe no one would know his real name is actually Alexander and that could cause issues too.

But please don't mind my overthinking, I still think it's a really cool name :D

I'd go with Alexander Gabriel and use Xander as a nickname. Xander's great, but it's kind of Buffy-ish and childish, and I think Alexander offers more options for when he gets older.
