from my office. again, we have some interesting, some 'huh?', and then just plain ol' *headdesk*

Donia (f)

Thesia (f) - now i don't have a problem with this name; it's interesting. but the girl's last name began with a 'T'.  her initials are T.T. no middle name... THAT'S what i had issue with.  you saddle your girl child with the initials that phonetically sound like a part of her anatomy? NICE! *sarcasm*

Lit (?) - just... i dunno what's wrong with ppl.

Sequatis (f) - huh?

Chiquita (f) - ok, seriously folks. not only is this the brand name of BANANAS, but there are sooooo many little chihuahuas runnin around with this name too. that's just bad manners on the parents' side.

Prince Ali (m) - ........ ok women on drugs, giving birth, should NOT be allowed to watch any TV whatsoever... least of all watch a Disney movie...

Vernique (f) - not Ver-o-nique... that i could actually like.  this... is just gross

Starleigh (f) - *headdesk*

Tarron (m) - i like it on paper... it's interesting... but then outloud i'm so confused...

Beaujolais (f) - this i really like. it's different, but makes sense as she's french.

Rexine (f) - gag me....

Kalandria (f) - can i slap her parents... PLEASE?

Amantha (f) - ....... i don't even know where to begin with this one

Kimes (?) - i don't know how it's pronounced, i may like it out loud, but on paper, it just looks like a cross btwn Kermit & Limes.... and then that makes me think of Kermit singing 'Kokomo'....

What are y'alls thoughts/opinions/knee jerk reactions to these?

I seriously don't like any of these, so I'm not comment on all of them seperately...just...Sequatis? Non sequitur? It reminds me of 'to follow'. And the -is would make it second person...'you follow'? Or something like that? Now that's nice...

Kimes looks like a plural form of Kim =P
...and I'll never get the whole 'Prince' as an actual name thing.

What if one of those people wanted to run for president? Or become an attorney? Oh boy.

Thesia is okay, but I agree that the initials would be a burden. I, too, think Beaujolais is interesting. I like the way it flows. I like the name Tarron in just about every form. Taryn, Tarrin, Taren...I don't know why, but I like it. Not enough to ever use it, but it sounds nice to my ear and feels comfortable to hear and say.

The rest are pretty bad. Amantha seems to follow the trend of dropping the first letter of a more traditional name to "create" a new one. I have also seen Adelyn (from Madelyn) and Arilyn (from Marilyn).

Are you sure Adelyn is from Madelyn? My baby name book has it coming from Adeline (in turn from Adelaide).

The mother told me she was leaning towards Madelyn but didn't want the M initial so they chopped it off! lol So yeah, I was pretty sure about that one child. I didn't even bother to look for another root/source. Good to know! Thanks! :)

Ah ok, so that particular one was a dropped Madelyn, which is rather silly.

I don't really care for Beaujolais. It's like naming your kid Chianti!

Beaujolais, with her siblings Merlot and Chardonnay, are pleased to announce the arrival of baby Chablis.

Um... no.
