Middle Name Help (..again)
Apr. 13th, 2008 03:03 pmI'm due to have my baby girl in just under 3 weeks and I still don't have a name picked out for her. I have a very short list of first names, of which Stella is at the top but I have absolutely nothing even remotely solid for a middle name.
The two most important people in my life are my mom and my aunt and although it's not absolutely necessary that I honour them in the name of my daughter, I feel like it would be a nice gesture if I could.
The problem? Their names are Donna and Karen, neither of which sound good with Stella. I'm open to using other variations of their names or names that have the same meaning but I haven't had much luck on my own. Help!

Date: 2008-04-13 06:24 pm (UTC)At the moment we all have the same last name, as will my daughter, so the maiden name option doesn't work so well. My aunt's middle names are Jean Marie and my mom's middle name is Ann. Granted, they SOUND better with Stella but I still don't want to use any of them because their middle names are after their aunts, so the names have little to do with "them" and I don't want to "honour" people I've never even met before.. y'know? This baby naming business is tough.

Date: 2008-04-13 06:35 pm (UTC)Karen is a var. of Katherine, so you could always go with one of the many other variants of Katherine such as Karenna, Kate, Kathleen, Katrine, etc.
Donna means "lady", and I found this page that lists several other lovely names with that meaning:

I particularly like: Viviane and Guinevere.
Good luck in finding the perfect name for your baby girl! :)

Date: 2008-04-13 07:27 pm (UTC)How about Stella Katherine. I'm pretty sure Karen is a form of Katherine (at least thats what I read online) so its still honoring Karen
