[identity profile] erikalyn.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I'm due to have my baby girl in just under 3 weeks and I still don't have a name picked out for her. I have a very short list of first names, of which Stella is at the top but I have absolutely nothing even remotely solid for a middle name.

The two most important people in my life are my mom and my aunt and although it's not absolutely necessary that I honour them in the name of my daughter, I feel like it would be a nice gesture if I could.

The problem? Their names are Donna and Karen, neither of which sound good with Stella. I'm open to using other variations of their names or names that have the same meaning but I haven't had much luck on my own. Help!

stella donna doesnt sound very nice at all, but stella karen sounds fine, imo, if it is that important to you.

stella is beautiful, btw! i love it!

How unusual are you willing to go? There is a Cornish name, Kerensa, that could work as a nod to Karen. Kerensa means love (http://www.behindthename.com/name/kerensa).

Funnily enough, I was going to suggest Caradon, which is a Cornish region.

Caitlin, Kasia, Kay, Virginie, Reina/Reyna and pretty much every form of Catherine has the same meaning as Karen, and Kyra, Yara, Delphine, Freya/Freydis, Geneva & Yosha have the same/a similar meaning as Donna.

I realize that most of these end in -a, which you may not like, but I thought I'd throw them in anyway =) Good luck!

First off, Stella is a beautiful name.

Karen is a var. of Katherine, so you could always go with one of the many other variants of Katherine such as Karenna, Kate, Kathleen, Katrine, etc.

Donna means "lady", and I found this page that lists several other lovely names with that meaning:

I particularly like: Viviane and Guinevere.

Good luck in finding the perfect name for your baby girl! :)

Oops. I guess you'll have to type in the search info. yourself. But it seems like a helpful site anyway. :)

I kinda like Stella Kathleen but I'm partial to Kathleen.

And yes, Stella is lovely.

One idea is Stella Karina. I don't know if you'd want both names to end in -a, but it's a variation of Karen and kind of combines the two names.

Or even Stella Corine?

I love the name Stella

How about Stella Katherine. I'm pretty sure Karen is a form of Katherine (at least thats what I read online) so its still honoring Karen

Karen means pure. The only good combo I could come up with was Stella Caitlin.

I personally like:

What about Stella Camille? I looked up the meanings of Donna (lady) and Karen (feminine), so they pretty much mean the same thing. There are tons of names that have a similar meaning.
