I was a substitute kindergarten teacher on Friday and noticed some interesting things about the names:
-No duplicates, every kid was the only one it it's class
-No Olivias, Hannahs, or names that ended in -belle
-Only one unisex name (Morgan, on a girl)

And the name I thought was the most interesting: Cherie. Said like Sherry, but I really wanted to pronounce it with a French accent

Actually, I pronounce Sherry & Cherie differently. With Sherry, I say SHARE-Ree. With Cherie, I say Sheh-REE. I think Cherie is sort of cute =)

Interesting that there wasn't even one Olivia! No Nevaeh's either? ;)

That's the point she made, the way you want to say it is how it's said in French (if I'm reading that right?) and that's not how the little girl's name was pronounced.

I knew someone named Cherie in high school. Cherie Amour, no less.

That said, Cherie in the French way is very pretty. :)

That may be what they were naming her for. :)

I have a friend named Cherie, and she pronounces it like Sherry as well. She was named for an aunt who also pronounced her name Sherry but spelled it Cherie.

When I first met her, I wanted to pronounce it the French way, but after getting used to her name, I generally pronounce Cherie as Sherry unless it has accent marks indicating the French pronunciation.

Cherie is so cute! (And I would pronounce it with the accent.)
