[identity profile] daydream11.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

I've been working on a novel for the past few months, and one of the most difficult things I've been working with is finding a suitable name. I've taken into account sex, birth date, background and heritage, and personality when deciding names, and for four out of my six main characters that has been fairly easy. However, for one character, choosing a suitable name has been difficult. I know I want this character, a teenage girl, to have the nickname 'Kenny', but I'll probably throw that away,  since I already have a Henry and I'm trying to prevent my characters from having names that match).

So I'm up for names. Any names for a teenage girl that descirbes/fits a girl who is...

Caucasian
Has eccentric parents
Born in the Early 1990s (1990-1993)
Is on the quiet side, knowing, and sensitive to other's moods (but not sensitive as in agnst and emo, but sensitive as in intuitive and introspective)
Artistically creative
Kind-hearted

If you have any name suggestions that don't end in the 'uh' sound or 'ee', please give them!

Thanks. :)

(If it helps, the other five characters are named Natasha, Henry, Jordan, Cierra, and India. If you have similar names that I can substitute feel free to give them!)

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I'm really liking them, and most of them I've never even considered before.

She sounds like a Rachel to me :)
But she could be a Lillian!

Lillian Rachel ?

Hmmm with eccentric parents I'd almost think a a name like Sunflower, Jade or Lana.
Others I thought of:
Simone
Joan
Gwendolyn
Nicolette
Rosemary
Maxine

Then there's the names we might wind up giving our daughter: Adelaide, Juliet
Since I'd say my hubby and I qualify as slightly eccentric, artistic and kind-hearted. All traits we could wind up passing on to our daughter :-)

Oh, and the way you describe this girl reminds me of my cousin Bethany. So I sort of associate that name with that type of girl.

This is weird cause everyone is picking really girly names but the first name that came into my head was Brodie. I know it is primarily a boys name and I hate it on either sex but that is the name I thought of when I read her synopsis.

Francesca, but then calling her Frankie? Frankie doesn't sound like Henry, I don't think. Maybe call her "Chesca" instead.

I first thought of Lila, but you don't want anything ending with -uh, so . . . how about these?

Maren
Heather
Alice
Reagan
Anne

I'm trying to think of names of classic female painters, but there aren't many, so how about subjects of classic paintings?

Saskia (Rembrandt's wife: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saskia_van_Uylenburg)
Gabrielle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabrielle_Renard)
Marie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_van_Goethem)
Camille (while it's from a male, Camille is a feminine name today http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camille_Pissarro)

I thought Colbie. But I also agree with Heather... but because it is my name.
Also, Olivia, Kate or Danielle.

Early nineties? What about Kennedy? She was a VJ on MTV back in the 1990's. Oh...ends in "ee." Hmm.

Katherine is always a pretty popular name and Kaitlyn was/is currently popular--maybe Kenny could be a nickname for one of those to not "blend in" with the crowd, so much?
