What do you guys think of the name Cordelia?

So far the people I've presented it to (including my husband, crap) say it is too stuffy and old fashioned. I LOVE old fashioned names, but apparently this is a deterrent to the average human being. :(

I love it and I don't think it's stuffy or particularly old fashioned sounding.

I don't think of it as old-fashioned personally. I'm not really a fan of it, though, for no real reason, I just don't like the way it sounds.

I'm sorry, I think it's quite old-fashioned as well. Delia is a cute nickname, though.

It reminds me of a line from the Anne of Green Gables Musical, when Anne is pretending she had this exquisite past.

"I’m the Lady Cordelia de Montmorency,
Abducted by gypsies when I was three."

Seen that musical farrr too many times.

I love it. Its strange, because I hate Cornelia, but one letter really can make a differene.

I like it but it reminds me of the character from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I prefer Cornelia myself, but I love Cordelia all the same. I'm a fan of old-fashioned names, as long as they have a sophisticated, feminine air about them, and this fits it!

Maybe you can use it as a middle name if the DH doesn't budge.

I love that name! it has some cute nicknames (Cordy, Corey, Delia, etc) and it is the name of my favorite character in Buffy and Angel :) It's definitely not too old fashioned!

The only Cordelia I know is a toddler, and she's the cutest thing ever.

I would never think that it was stuffy or old-fashioned. I just think of vampire slayers.

I LOVE the name!! It unfortunately does not mix well with my last name so I don't think I'll ever use it, but I do really love it!

I'm sorry, but I don't like it at all. I find it very old-fashioned, and all I can think of are stuffy old ladies in the 1800's. But that's what I think of all old fashioned names in general.
I do like the nickname Cory though.

I don't love the name but I do love Cordy, so I'd be inclined to use it so I could have a Cordy.

I like it. Beyond Buffy and Anne of Green Gables, it makes me think of Sin City--I believe Nancy wrote under the name Cordelia while Hartigan was in prison.

I think Cordelia is a lovely name. I will say that, because one of my best friends was addicted to Buffy, it will always remind of it. But that shouldn't stop you; I don't think everyone will remember that forever. It is a lovely name, and hey--you're not alone--I too LOVE old fashioned names.

I don't know WHAT I think of this name anymore. It was at the top of my list for a while. When I was young, I knew a girl who I admired named Cordelia, and that turned me on to the name. Somewhere along the way, I realized that most people thought of it as old fashioned in a bad way. I had never had that impression, and I always associated it with that girl and thought it was pretty and feminine. I still like it, but I'm wary of using a name when I apparently have an entirely different conception of it than the average person does.
