What are some more unusual names that Kate could be a nickname for? I've googled baby name sites but found the usual Katheryn, Katie, Kaden, Kaitlynn.

Katerina can also be spelled Katarina. I know Swedish girls with that name and spelling.

I know a Katerina who is emphatic that her name is not pronounced Katarina. Go figure. :-)

I personally love the name Kate as a full name. It's classic and beautiful. I just can't use it b/c it's the full name of a woman I recently ended a 7 year friendship with.

i also love the name kate. um, one thing i was considering naming my daughter was cadence, you could definitely spell it with a "k" or spell "kate" with a "c", i wanted it for the nickname "cady." i LOVE that name, cady. it means simple happiness. :)

One of my favorite names is Katriel. (KAH-tree-el or KA-tree-el, either one with the first sounding like the beginning of cotten, and the second like cat)

Behind the Name lists a ton of names as related to Katie...

http://behindthename.com/php/extra.php?extra=r&terms=katie

Some of these are just foreign forms of Katie-like names, and some of them are a bit of a stretch. My most favorite of the Katies I've known in life used it as a nickname for Kathleen.

I like Kate. Prefer is spelled Cate though, because i LOVE Caitlin.. is the spelling Cait too weird if it were a nn for Caitlin?)
I despise Katie.. absolutely hate it.
My favourite longer version of Kate is Katya/Katia
(cat-ee-uh)- (but the ee is sort of shorter.. not like the ee in tree)lol
