(no subject)

We are currently ttc #3, kinda, lol. We arent "trying" quite yet per-say, but we aren't preventing either, lol.

So my question is........I love frilly girly names that are unpopular enough to where my daughter will be the only girl in the class answering to her name. My hubby and I already have two sons, Adrian Conrad and Dylan Travis Reeves, so we are hoping and praying for a girl next time, but if not we need ideas on boys too.

So any suggestions on girl names, that I may like? Or opinions on these: Bellani (called Bella), Ashland, Catherine, Autumn...middle name probably Danielle?

or boys? Suggestions that go with Adrian and Dylan? Or opinions on Rhian (Ryan), Tristan (hubby will never go for it but I can beg!!), or Alexander (Alex for short?)?

Thanks guys!!

Also current name problem under the cut....

so far all the grandkids and cousins in my hubbies family end in "n": Austin, Logan, Braden, Reagan, Aaron, Damon, Devyn, Ammon, Adrian, Dylan, Jaxon

and some in mine: Kristen, Megan, Justin x 2

So do we continue the tradition or break free??

And also, I like Taylor for a girl but will it be offset by my son name Adrian, two unisex-ish names so close together??

Thanks guys!! BTW I love this community, I have loved names since I was young. I've been making baby name lists as long as I can remember and always read the year books for new names, lol. I'm kinda picky though so watch out!

I like Catherine and Autumn. Ashland sounds very cool, but it also sounds completely made up, which, I dunno, it just kinda makes it a bit over the top that way.

As far as familiy traditions go, only follow them if they suit you. You've already got sons with their names ending in n, so if you have one girl that doesn't it won't be such a big deal. Though if you have a boy he may feel left out. I don't know, I think it's just important to choose the name you both love most, but then I don't have to deal with your family either!

I don't like Taylor, but I don't think it offsets Adrian either, but then I always think of Adrian as a boy's name.

Well where I come from Adrian is definitely a boy's name and anyone who considered it for a girl would be considered weird.

I love Adrian Conrad and Dylan Travis, by the way.

Bellani and Ashland seem a little made up/clothing line to me, but I like Catherine and Autumn. Catherine Danielle sounds very nice, and goes with your other children's names.

I like all of your boys names, but Alexander is my favorite of them all.

As far as the family tradition, I wouldn't worry about breaking it. It's not as immediately obvious as some other name traditions might be, and variety is the spice of life!

And for your last problem, I don't find Adrian to be a very unisex name. I hear 'Adrian' and I instantly think boy. That said, I don't much like the name Taylor on a guy OR girl. As a middle name, though, it could work.

Dylan Travis Reeves does flow well! I like it, and I'm usually a 'three names = bad' kind of person.

I like Tristan Alexander together :p

Autumn or Catherine Danielle is pretty!
good luck ttc!

i think Bella by itself as the full first name is adorable!

I feel the same way about girls names as you... girly, unpopular names!

Bellani- I dont like this at all, but i think Bella is beautiful.. that is a perfect name on its own.
Ashland- This sounds so masculine to me, i dont like it at all for a girl.
Catherine- Never liked this name, it's not very unusual either.
Autumn- This is very very pretty, gaining popularity though but not enormously.
Danielle- I dont like this either.. but as a middle name it tends to go well with most names.

Rhian- I quite like this, but why the alternate spelling?
Tristan- I like this :-) too bad hubby doesnt!
Alexander- This is such a good, classic name. I'm sure there will be a few Alex's in his class though. If you dont use it for the first name, it is a brilliant second name.

(some pretty girly names you might like)
Anabelle (could go by bella)
Isabel/bella
Kasia
Gabrielle/a

Ashland is a mix between Aslan the lion and a fire-ravaged country.

It's also a podunk town in Kentucky that I grew up near. ;-)

Bellani (called Bella) -- It doesn't sound like a first name to me. It sounds like an Italian restaurant or something.
Ashland - I don't care for it at all. Ash names have never been my thing, and the word "land" in a name is just odd.
Catherine - Love it, especially with no nn. Just Catherine.
Autumn - Love it

Rhian (Ryan) - MUCH prefer Ryan
Tristan - I don't like at all because of the meaning (sad)
Alexander - Nice, if fairly common

As far as the ending in N "tradition", I think you should ignore it. Chose the name you like best. Period.

Ditto with Taylor and Adrian, if those are the names you like the most, you should use them. Don't settle for something like that, your kids are not going to be a matched set for life.

My sister's name is Taylor.
I like Adrian & Taylor. Very cute!

i really love ashlynn.

I think if you're looking for something original you should probably stay away from Catherine and Autumn. I really like Ashland, though. And I think that you'd be fine naming her Taylor. As for the whole tradition thing, I wouldn't do either. I wouldn't break it on purpose, but I also wouldn't keep it on purpose. I'd just pick whichever name I liked best.

I like Autumn. I also like August a lot too but if you're going for names that end in "n" then I guess it doesn't work.

Unusual frilly girls names (that I can think of) maybe:
  • Brierra
  • Brigetta (Bri-gee-ta)
  • my sister wants to name her daughter Brillante (with the double "L" making a "y" sound, it's Spanish for brilliant, Bree-an-tay)
  • I've always loved the name Elora, from the movie Willow :o) And (either a good thing or a bad) it's Elora Danon in the movie, and it flows so well, Ellora Danielle would flow just as well, but people might think you're copying the movie too much. Actually, also from that movie, I think Raziel (Raz-el) is pretty too.

i love catherine. timeless and always gorgeous. it sounds good with danielle as a middle, too.

bella is cute, but i dont like bellani. sounds like a kind of italian pastry.

ashland is wierd to me, but thats because its one of the main streets in the town i live in, a street i live right off of, and ive always used it in that context, but that obviously wouldnt be true for most.

the first names that popped into my head when you said you wanted something girly but not super popular right now were samantha and elizabeth.

    good luck.
