Margaret??

Hello!

I was just scanning over the last couple of entries, and realized a number of them had mentioned the name Margaret as a first or middle name. Soo, I was wondering, WDYT of the name?
It's my first name, and I used to hate it when I was young, but now am all right with it. I also only go by Margaret, none of the nicknames appeal to me at all.

I've never liked terribly old fashioned names like that, but Margaret is better than any of the nicknames for it. Maggie always makes me think of maggots.

I actually really hate it. I don't like the sound of the name at all. It doesn't help that I work with a horrible woman called Margaret.

I do love a lot of the nicknames though.

I looooove Margaret. I always have. It's my grandmother's name, so I definitely plan to use it, either as a first name with the nickname of Meg (maybe Maggie, but probably Meg), or as a middle name.

I think it's pretty, but too old fashioned for me to actually use. It's my grandmother's name, but she goes by Peggy.

I only know two Margarets, and they both currently go by Maggie. I'd have to say that while I'm not a huge fan of either of those, I like Maggie better. Margaret is maybe a little too old fashioned? I'm not sure what it is, I don't really like it.

Wow. I didn't expect quite this many comments.
But, I guess the general vibe is positive. I do get, "That's my gramma's name!" alot, and that it's very old fashioned. I'll just hold onto the fact that it was one of the top names in the 1800's. :P
