(no subject)

I was just reading an obituary, and a sibling set was mentioned.  I didn't really process it until I got to the 4th sibling that they all rhymed!  Here are their names:

Terry
Larry
Gary
Barry
Kerry (don't know if it's m or f)
Perry
Sherri

WDYT?  Would you ever use rhyming names?

Wow.

A lot of the names I like rhyme (Blair and Claire, Wesley and Lesley, Stacy and Kacey, Sarah and Tara, etc.) but I'd never use them together.

I know a family that has a Larry, Sherri, and Mary, but they're related by marriage so it wasn't intentional.

I know a family with five girls named Lacy, Stacy, Macy, Tracy, and Kasey.

I wouldn't do it myself.

It's kind of cute, but in a I-would-never-do-it-myself sort of way.

My mom and her siblings are Sherri, Terry (Terrance) and Gerri. They hate it!

my dad's cousins are Don, John, Ellen, and Helen. I'd never put my kids through that.

Wow, I could never do that. I wonder if their parents even liked the names.

Hm. I'd never intentionally use names that rhyme like that.

I'm Tracy and my brother is Casey. There's a girl in between us who is named Sara. My mom said she didn't realize that Tracy and Casey rhymed until after he was named. It really wasn't that bad, except when one of our names was shouted and we both came running.

i know a family:

parents are maury and laurie. kids are tori and corey.

i find it horrifying.

Um no.

[identity profile] 0o-faerie.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Pffsht.

And no, I would never use rhyming names. If there were two names I liked that were similar, I'd make one a middle name.

i think it's ridiculous.

I don't think that I could ever use rhyming names. I think it's ridiculous, and kind of tacky.

[identity profile] thejoysofjess.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I would not. My two favorite names rhyme (Nate and Kate) and whichever gender shows up first gets the name.
