[identity profile] thorabrighid.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Heyy, I'm Hannah, I'm fifteen, and definitly not pregnant, nor planning on being pregnant anywhere in the near future, I just really really love names. So, here's my list of my favorite names, or what I plan on naming my kids if I have any.

Boys:
Sebastien Finn
Jasper Charles
Sheppard Jackson

Girls:
Elinor August
Esther Susannah
Joannah Belle

Middle names/spellings that sort of things change frequently, though. ahah

Also! My family is adopting a baby boy in March and we already have his name picked out: Charles Sawyer. He'll go by Sawyer.

Comments and things are lovely.

One thing about Joannah; it will get you and your daughter confused.

(My mom's name is Keallie and she named me Hayley and even that has caused a multitude of problems/confusions, so I think it's a fair bet that if you name your daughter Joannah that she'll get called Hannah 50% of the time. Plus, it rhymes. "Hi, I'm Hannah, this is my daugher Joannah." Eek, don't do it!)

I like the other names. My family has been friends with another family for 10 years, and they have a 10-year-old son named Sawyer. It's an awesome name, and very literary too. :)

I think that happens with all names. I get called by my mother's name a lot (Jennifer) and also my brother's (Danny). Heck, when my dad is really frustrated, he'll even throw in the dog's name for good measure.

Yay! Another person who likes the name Esther!! I like Susannah with it.
And the nickname Esti is too cute :)

Others:
I like either Joanna or Johannah. Joannah with just the H at the end looks strange.
I would spell it Sebastian with an -an, not an -en, unless you are French.
Sheppard doesn't sound like a name to me. It's a last name (haha, so is the mn, Jackson!)... and it reminds me of a German Shepherd. So, no.

Congratulations on the incoming little boy! Charles Sawyer is a very handsome name, and I love Sawyer.
I like most of your names, but not the spellings. And I'm not nuts about Joannah or Esther.

beautiful named! I LOVE Eleanor but spelled traditionally (since it's a classic and traditional name, it seems wrong to alter it so much)

ooh then hey, i don't know what i'm talking about, heh heh. That's a classic book so yeah, not a problem. I'd just never seen it before so I made assumptions. :P

all good names!

Elinor is the traditional spelling. Eleanor was a French variation of a different name. The two were confused after Eleanor of Aquitane was Queen of England and rose to power as the mother of Richard the Lionhearted. She spelled her name Alienor and pronounced it al-ee-AY-nor. And the British citizens adopted it. Over time the traditional Elinor and Alienor merged into: Eleanor.

is there a difference in pronunciation then? I have a friend who spells it Eleanor but it's pronounced El-en-uh...i suppose it would make more sense if it was spelt Elena. I also know of El-en-or's... spelt Eleanor.

I like your naming style! Elinor August is gorgeous! I like Jackson Sheppard better. Sheppard is a family name?

I don't care for Joannah, but that's just a preference b/c of association.

Boys:
Sebastien Finn- love it
Jasper Charles- love it too
Sheppard Jackson- no no no no! Shappard is not a name, it's a job..that old men do..

Girls:
Elinor August- i dont like Elinor, but if i had to name a baby that i would spell it Elena, i was born in August so i really dont think of it as much of a name either.
Esther Susannah- hmmm... nope dont like. Esther just isnt my style.
Joannah Belle- I HATE he name Joannah, it isnt pretty and she'll most likely go by Jo, which i dont like. Im much more of a girly name person.. likle Belle, which i think is lovely (though i prefer Bella!)

i still wanna know why parents names their children something and then call them by their middle name.
I had a friend name her son Michael Gabriel and they all call him Gabriel, in fact when someone calls him Micheal they have to think who they are talking about!!!
