Do John and Anne sound too similar to be sibling-names? (Both one syllable and with the terminal "n" sound?) They are my favorites for a boy and girl, but I'm afraid they sound too much alike. I'd probably call the boy "Jack" or Johnny and the girl just plain "Anne." What do you guys think? Anne is a dead set, so if John is out I have to think of a new name!

I love Jack as a nickname for John.

I'd be tempted to call them Jack and Annie.

I don't think they're too similar at all! Sure, they're one syllable and end in n, but it's not as if they rhyme or anything. Anne and Dan might be a bit much, but not Anne and John.

I actually love them. Anne is my middle name and I love Anna as well. I think Johnny compliments it very well :)

I'd love to know just how many of thousands of men named John over the years have had a sister named Anne, and vice versa. If not Anne, Mary, and if not John, William. They are definitely the most solid and most traditional names out there.

Yeah, I think they are fine together.

Good, old-fashioned names that sound fine together and won't go out of style.

I like them both! The nickname Jack is interesting! I've never heard of that before, but I like it. :)

I've ONLY heard it as a NN for John. Now people are using it as a name by itself and that seems odd to me. It's like Chuck is a NN for Charles, and if someone just named their kid Chuck, that would seem weird to me.

They're very strong, traditional names that go well together, and I am quite fond of the name Jack as well. :) I wouldn't fret.
