[identity profile] arbus.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
i posted here a couple of months ago about a little girl i met named annabelle who was so sassy, i just fell in love with the little toothless wonder. in the past couple of months, i have really fallen in love with the name, and more and more have realized i adore the name anna, so i think its a great fit, and is nearing the top of my list.

what do you guys think? is it popular? do you think its trendy? i dont mind popular names, but trendy i would really like to avoid.

so... annabelle? annabel? or, anabel?

i think annabelle looks the best, but dont want her to be called belle or bella at all, so it seems to be like annabel could avoid that at least somewhat, now maybe i am clearly insane, but it looks unbalanced to me, does that make sense? therefore, anabel popped up too.

I love the name Annabelle (I don't like the other spellings - I think they look funny), but I do love the nickname Belle. I suggested it for my daughter but was shot down :(

I'd stick with Annabelle. Annabel and Anabel both do look unbalanced...
Just start calling her Anna before people can call her Belle?

Agreed. My name (Elizabeth) is super-nickname-able, but I've only rarely been called by any nicknames I didn't introduce myself as. And generally, if I introduce myself with my full name, I'm not called by any nicknames at all. I was never called by anything but what my parents introduced me as until I was old enough to start introducing myself by other names.

If I were going with a different spelling of Annabelle, I'd pick Anabel because it's a little more symmetrical than Annabel. But Annabelle is the best.

Annabel is one of my top name, so I cast my vote in that direction.

Annabelle looks best by far, I'd definitely stick with that.

I really love the name Annabelle!! It is such a saucy name. I think that is the spelling I like, but I am ok with Annabel. Anabel I would pronounce ON-a-bell, rather than Anna-Bell. I like Anna as a nn more than Belle. :)

Annabelle is one of my mom's cousins :)
She has daughters named Greta and Adria.

I prefer Annabelle in this spelling, it look more complete.
Ana with one n is hispanic.

Annabelle is timeless name, in my book. It is making a comeback but I wouldn't call it trendy.

The other spellings look odd to me.

I don't really like the name, but I think the best spelling is Annabel. I know an Annabelle who goes by Annie and I really like Annie, as a full name, though, not a nickname.

i like anabel because i think it looks like a name in and of it's self. annabelle looks like 2 names thrown together to me.
