something else to add

I took my daughter to the park and there was a woman there with her baby girl. I asked what her name was and she said "Nevaeh" which is Heaven spelled backwards. I guess it's cute enough but if you have to offer any sort of explanation about your child's name I would vote that you think of something else. WDYT?

I hate the name Nevaeh, it is incredibly trendy and it is very sad how popular it has become. I think if I ever meet someone who has a daughter named it, I'll smack them.

lol! My boss's niece is named Nevaeh, and I literally have to bite my tongue every time she mentions her. I'm sure she's a cute kid, but I just cannot get past the name!

The kicker? Nevaeh's brother's name is Jaden. Oh, lord. Why?

Nevaeh and Jaden?! No, no, no :(

The sound of the name doesn't bother me nearly as much as the way it looks...and that most people who try to spell heaven backwards mispell it. I'd spring for a name that means heaven...then again, I think Hel is a fine name (I'm a mythology junky)

For me, Nevaeh is right up there in my 'worst ever' names list lol.

How do they pronounce it? I've just been guessing what I think the prn is because I'm fortunate enough to never have met someone with the name.

i think it's 'nev-eh-a'

[identity profile] crzydimond.livejournal.com 2008-04-04 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
I thought so. It makes me laugh even more when I see it spelt Neveah, because they have clearly tried to spell it phonetically.

It is ok to have a name that has some meaning or explanation. Just not one as lame as "it is heaven spelled backwards".

Why aren't people naming their kids other stuff spelled backwards? Like Susej? Elbib? Nedyaj? Bob? Come on people, let's get really creative here.

[identity profile] crzydimond.livejournal.com 2008-04-04 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Shhhh! Don't give them any ideas!

Elbib made me laugh, though. Lol.

Isn't El'Byb GEORGIOUS for a gerl?!?

Heehee.

Or...Yyloh Ellbyb!

You better copyright that, or the trailer trash masses will be kicing down your door to claim it!

while we are on the subject of religious names, why not GOD spelled backwards?

(teehee)

You must be new here, huh....

I detest that name to the highest degree.

Don't people know that history says when something is spelled backwards, it often means the opposite of the root word? Yeah buddy, I'm gonna name my kid the opposite of Heaven. That's a GRAND idea.

UGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!!

The first time I saw it, I thought: 'How in the world am I supposed to pronounce that?!' but I thought the 'heaven spelled backwards' thing was pretty cool, albeit a little tacky.

Then all of a sudden it started popping up everywhere and I still didn't know how to pronounce it...so I got annoyed by the ubiquity of the name, its spelling, and its pronunciation (which does not make sense. The pronunciation, I mean).

I don't like it at all. I know someone who will be naming thier child (if they have a girl) Bella-Nevaeh. Yes, I do believe they are hyphenating it!
