hi all!
i just joined...I'm currently 16w 4d pregnant. Hopefully I'll find out what I'm having on May 12th. :) My husband and I have come up with only a name for a girl which is Autumn Ryan. Ryan is my hubby's name but I think it would still be cute for a girl and I'm due in September so I think Autumn is a perfect name in that regard. :) We're just stuck on a boy's name. We were thinking Jack but I just don't know. Hopefully this community will help us decide! :)

Autumn Ryan is a beautiful name! I love it. Jack is ordinary, but alright, and Jackson itself is getting so popular (as the dreaded Jaxon). Hmmm... any other names you two like?

Jonathan is nice; I like that name.

I love Jack! If you guys are Clancy fans, he could be Jack Ryan:)

What are some other names you like?

Usually a would be kind of iffy with the whole 'boys name on a girl' but Ryan has been used as girls name before, and it has a meaning for you so it doesn't bother me so much.
I think Autumn Ryan sounds nice anyhow.

I don't really like Jack as a name on it's own...I do like Jonathon but I have never understood why Jack is a nickname for it! Jackson is ok, but gaining popularity way fast.

Jaxon is hideous!

If the baby is a boy would you use Ryan as a nickname as well? Jackson Ryan is kind of cute.

I'd use Ryan as a mn for the boy too. On my list is Lucas Ryan. which I adore.

Other (random) ideas...
Thomas Ryan
Joshua Ryan
Christopher Ryan
Jacob Ryan
Mitchell Ryan
Hamish Ryan
Nicholas Ryan
Nathaniel Ryan

On the other hand, dick is used as a stand-alone, making the name connect more obviously to the slang. I've always heard jack in conjunction with other words ("off", for example), so maybe it's a little less obvious? And so many male names that are slange for things anyway; I think you just come to a point where it doesn't matter.

Whats funny to me is that Jack's primary slang definition is not masterbation. It means to steal or "mess up" some one, i.e. "Hey man, did you see that car I jacked?" or "You should have seen how I jacked up that fool."

I also have a cousin named dick....he goes b dickie. Had a great-great uncle named Dick....but he committed suicide...not because his name was dick, though. Richard Nixon was commonly known as dick and he was the president. The vice president goes by Dick.....i think if you want to name your kid dick, you can. John Thomas is also slang for penis, as is Peter, but people use those names, too.

I like Autumn a lot; I'm tempted to use it, but I'm due in June, so it might not work. I'm not sure I like Ryan on a girl, though it does sound strangely nice with Autumn. You might also consider Rhianne (ree-ANN) or Rhiannon for a girl's middle name.

I'd keep Ryan as the middle name for a boy, too; Jack Ryan and Jonathan Ryan both sound nice.

I'm considering the name Spring (not in English) and my baby will be born in Sept. It's a conundrum.

I like Autumn, but I think that Jack is incredibly boring and overused.

i am not a huge fan of autumn, personally. but i think ryan is very cute as a middle name for a girl, especially because of the meaning for you guys.

i think jack is a wonderful name for a boy! its my boyfriends name, i really love it.
