Ok fellow Baby namers,  It is three weeks or so until our due date... we have had a name picked out for our baby girl for about 4 months now.... and today we decided to change it completely!!!

I feel like a moron, because we have already told people the name and my 2 year old already calls the baby by the name we had chosen... but I had really begun to not like it and today my husband totally agreed with me and agreed with what to change it to..... So I feel a bit in shock and I will feel dumb telling everyone it is different but we are really happier with the new name and after all, better to change it now and not regret it later. I just really wish we had not made up our minds so early! And we should have done what we did with our first pregnancy and not told until the birth!

For those who are curious, her name just went from

Zoey Violet .... to....
Allison Snow

(Snow is my mother's maiden name)  I know it  is a total style change.. but I had begun to feel that Zoey was just too creative, a little too hippy and a bit too juvenile for her..... Allison is classy and grown up, while still allowing Allie as a great nick-name. My husband totally agrees and he wanted me to use my mom's maiden name for the middle name anyway, it just didn't sound good with Zoey.

How dumb do you think people will think we are for changing it at the last minute?  We are actually telling people starting today that we are changing it... but not telling them the new name yet just in case.... they will find out when she gets here... except a couple of my best friends that did decide to tell the new name to (who said they like it better). Also... I don't think most people we have told the old name to liked it anyway... not that that should matter I guess, but I don't want her to have a name that is disliked.. I don't want to start her off with a hinderance in life.

When I mentioned to my mom that I am rethinking the name, she said that she actually regretted what she named me...(Misty)  I never really loved my hippy name either... but I didn't tell her that. Still I am glad we are going more traditional now.  The baby name wizard book said of my name- "it has finally been relegated to the place it belongs.. to strippers and horses!)" or something like that..... LOL  so true!!!

Your thoughts???

Aw, I love Zoey. To me it has way more character than Allison, which seems a little generic, like Jennifer or Kristen. But it's your baby and YOU get to decide, and that is all that matters. :)
