On the news last night, high school aged twins were in trouble with the law for assaulting a teacher. Their names?

Dykeshia and Dyneisha - die-KEE-shuh and die-NEE-shuh

I wanted to beat my head against the wall.

Yep. I met 2 year old twins named Christina and Christiana. Also in the news after hurricane Katrina, twins named Kira and Kiara. Why? Could someone just please tell me why? Only one letter different...Why not just give them the same name or call them Thing 1 and Thing 2? /rant

sorry heh.

I can't even understand the reasoning behind doing something like that. Just from a practical standpoint, it would really limit the number of nicknames that you could derive for each child. Unless you were going to expect them BOTH to respond to Chris, Christy, etc.

This is totally immature of me, but since I'm a fulltime stay-at-home mom now, I spend a lot of my "free time" watching tv, surfing the net, etc. On Flavor of Love III, there are twins, and he calls them: Thing 1 and Thing 2. So your comment totally reminded me of that! =]

My mom worked as an L&D nurse for 15 years. She once had twins named Tameika Dawn and Taneika Dawn. That pales in comparison, however, with the child named Meconium (which is a newborn's first poop) and Syphillis (she pronounced it Sy-phillis...she saw it on her chart and thought it was just beautiful!!)

Also worked with a woman who's children went to school with an Asshole (pronounced A-shol-ee) and a Shithead (prnounced Shi-theed). Yeah. Sometimes I wish we had naming laws like other countries do.

My brother's teacher claims he had a kid in one of his classes named Shithead, but when I posted it on here everyone told me that it's a joke? I don't know really, though.

I'm pretty sure this woman was telling the truth. I know my mom was.

twins and triplettes seem to make hormonal mothers' brains go on perment vacation apparently. i mean, i think out of all the multiples i've met in person/read about.... there's few that have different names and/or different initals.

though, i can stomach the initials being the same so long as the actual names were compeltely different. like the initials CJA. Boys could be Christopher James/Connor Jeffrey.... girls could be Christina JoAnn/Catherine Jewel.... something like that to me is acceptable.

but one letter off, or flip-flopped letters... exact same pronunciation... GAG!!!!!!

my dad's friend was a teacher, one year she had identical twin hispanic boys. their names: Arrow & Fletcha. 'fletcha' in spanish, means ARROW!!!!! *HEADDESK*

Why the rhyming? Why pretty much the same name? You have the opportunity to name TWO kids! Be creative! (Ok...not TOO creative)
