Date: 2008-03-27 02:05 pm (UTC)For Irish names, I like Malachy, Murphy, and Eamonn as middle names. I also like Murphy for a first name.
I like Lily, Susannah, and Gabriela as first names. Drusilla ALWAYS makes me think of vampires -- it's because of Buffy, but it also just seems like such a dark name -- and Priscilla makes me think of "Prissy." It also just seems very outdated and eh.
For middle names, I LOVE Shannon, and I also like Saoirse, Sarait, and Slaine. I've never been a fan of Siobhan, because it sounds like a stripper's name to me. I also really like Shannon as a first name.
I'd avoid using the difficult to pronounce Irish names as first names unless (again) you live in a community where these names are commonplace. But still, someday your child will likely leave that community (unless you live IN Ireland), and the names are going to cause problems for pronunciation and spelling that could get really annoying, really fast.
I'd suggest the following:
Adam Murphy
Adam Malachy
Benjamin Malachy
Benjamin Murphy
Benjamin Eamonn
Matthias Eamonn
Murphy Benjamin
Murphy Adam
Lily Shannon
Lily Saoirse
Lily Sarait
Lily Slaine
Gabriela Shannon
Gabriela Sarait
Gabriela Saoirse (as long as your lat name doesn't end in "a")
Shannon Gabriela
Shannon Lily
Shannon Susannah (I don't like this the other way around)
If you really like the Biblical or Irish names that I said were too "out there," I'd suggest using them as a middle name with something more conventional like Shannon, Lily, Benjamin, or Adam. Then, you're still using the name, if your child likes that better he or she can decide to use their middle name instead . . . but it's not going to be an issue if they don't like it.

and
Lily Siobhán
I love Benjamin, but it doesn't sound right with the irish/gaelic names to me.
Susannah is also really nice, annd although I don't really like using names beginning with the same letters, I do think that Susannah Sárait sound quite nice
