i dislike it a lot. it sounds redneck to me, and i'm not even sure why. i don't know anyone named wyatt, but when i hear the name i automatically see the stereotypical shirtless loon in overalls with straw hanging from his mouth.
I have really conflicting images, because while I automatically think of exactly that redneck description, I also think of a cool laid back New England guy in one of my classes. I dunno I'd never use it for a human, I guess. Sounds like a good dog name though.
I mentioned the name Jethro to my bf and he said he didn't like it for the same reason. I just like it because of Jethro Tull. However, I do not believe rednecks would have good taste in names. I think they would be more likely to name their kids Jayden or Nevaeh.
I wouldn't use it, because I occasionally babysat a little hellion named Wyatt, but I otherwise like it a lot. But then, I enjoy the stories about Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday and all, which is apparently a bigger influence to me than one bratty child who has probably grown up since then.
just makes me think of a bratty little kid kicking me in the shins with cowboy boots. Wyatt Earp was the only cool Wyatt, but even so, i call him "Quiet Burp." haha

Date: 2008-03-24 09:30 pm (UTC)Though I have a relative named Wyatt and he's from Boston. It really weirds me out to hear a Wyatt speak with that accent.
