Ugh. Jaden is name number TWELVE in America? That is just outright SAD.

Source = 2006 SSA name list, and too much time on my hands while my sons eat lunch and my daughter sleeps. :D

How did you figure out the true ranking? Just averaging them together or something else?

Ugh, all those -ayden names. They need to DIAF.

When considering "true ranking" did you take into account different spellings of other popular names? Jonathon/Jonathan, Thomas/Tomas and so on? Just curious =P

WHATEVER. IF those kids haven't had enough pizza to render them immobile (allowing you to complete your research!) you haven't done enough. GOSH.

Did you accidentally forget the actual real spelling - Aidan?

I looked, it's #44 - 9,888. Which (how you did it) brings the name to #1! That's actually what it said on another site (I think for 2007 though)
WOW

Wow. Now I feel sorry for all of the kids with these names.
I hated my name growing up because I always had one other Jennifer in my class so we had to go by our last initial. Not to mention we were best friends. I don't mind it anymore, though.

Same with me, Michelle. Except we were both Michelle Lynn L. So even though she hated it, she went by Mickey. LOL

Y'know, there were never more than three of us in my grade, and I only got in a class with another Elizabeth a couple times. On the other hand, all of us went by Beth; there were no Liz/Lizzie/etc. to differentiate.

Hahaha, you forgot Aydynn. (said just like "Aidan") My future SIL has two friends that named their babies "Aydynn" and "Aydan". God, it hurts my brain just to type that. Gross.

Ugh! Jayden is by far the worst of them in my opinion.

Awesome. I can't believe you got this bored, but...awesome.

Now, we add together all the -aden names and pass out when we compare the number to the next highest name on the list.

There's another version of Jaiden. It's Jadyn.

No one spelled Aidan correctly. NO ONE. That scares me, sort of.

Jaelin has been around for a while, so I'm not sweating the popularity of that one. I'm nearly 15, and I've met plenty of people my age with that name, spelled however the parent wished. Jailin, Jailynn, Jalin, Jeilyn, Jahlin...

As for the other Aidan names... why can't people be more creative? Like, it's utterly ridiculous how popular this name is (it's like the Jennifers and Tiffanys of the last two decades, I think). I understand that Aedyn/Jaidyn/Jaylinn/Zeidin/Haiden/Kehdan/Brahden is a cute name, but it's a generic cute name with virtually no originality outside of the way you spell it. *sigh*

It's really too bad, because actually I love the name Aidan, but I won't even use it except as a middle name because of how much I see it.

I'm in the exact same boat. It kills me because I love the name so much. Damn trendy parents.

And by the time I'm old enough to reproduce, the name will be out of style, dated, and associated with a group of kids that my own children will never be a part of.

*sigh*

I wonder if you added all the -aden names up as one group if they would come out as #1.

It is interesting to see how people are realizing that Aidan and Jayden are really popular, but they still want to name there kid something similar so you get Rayden, Xadyen, Bayden, etc.

actually, i think you may have done this incorrectly. if you look at how many children were actually named the name, and add them all together, aidan is actually #1. i did this a few months ago and it beat jacob, even with jakob added in.
