1) i mean no offense by this, but does Chaya strike you as super jew-y?

2) as a nickname, Abbie or Abby?

1. I love Chaya, but yeah it's pretty Jew-y. I wouldn't use it because no one on my side of the family would be able to say it right.

2. Abby

1. It's a Jewish name and it's my mother's Hebrew middle name, so yes. I would be extremely surprised to meet someone named Chaya that's not Jewish.
2. Abby

1. Hmm yes, as it's traditional Hebrew and such.

1. Yes, it's hella Jew-y. Too Jew-y even for a Jew; I don't even know any Jews who have it as their first name, they just have it as their Hebrew name. And, believe me, I know A LOT of Jews.
2. I like Abbey but out of your choices I prefer Abby.

Chaya? How are we pronouncing it? I'm looking at is as SHY-uh, as in Shia LaBeouf.

Umm... I didn't know it was a Jewish name, and since the only person I know by that name (she spells it Chya) is black and a Christian, weeellll... I'm associating it with her. ^_^;;

Well, as a Hebrew-name-lover, I'd say yes, but otherwise, no. Nice name, by the way.

& Abby.

Ish. If you're pronouncing it CHAY-ah, no. Otherwise, maybe.

Abbie or Abby is fine for a nickname. I think I prefer Abbie because I'd rather write it in cursive than Abby.

Ohhh... it's still pretty! I'd use it, because there's no one around me to accuse me of using a Jewish name. ^_^

1. If it's spelled that way, yes. If it were spelled as, say, Kaia, I don't think so, although, of course, anyone hearing it and not seeing it might argue otherwise.

2. I prefer Abby.
