Comment on the person above you's top five for each gender, and then post your own top five. For comments you can say things about the flow of the names, the popularity, how you like them in general, suggestions for other names that the person might like, etc. To make things cleaner, click "reply to post" instead of "reply to comment" so that instead of a long reply to one comment, we get a whole post full of comments. If you don't have a top five, don't worry about it, just post what you like! I'll start, and then the first commenter will reply to mine and then post their own.

FUN!

Oliver Nathaniel - Bleh. Oliver is too old-fashioned.
Gabriel Robert (Gabe) - Not bad. I like Gabe.
Jonas Rory - This is nice. Jonas is lovely.
Max Jeremiah - Kind of common, but nice.
Miles Nicholas - A little stuffy for me.

Catherine Beatrice (Cate) - I prefer it with a K, but like it.
Juliet Madeline (Madeline prn. Madeline not Madelyn) - LOVE THIS ONE.
Charlotte Susannah - Lovely. Susannah spelled like that is lovely.
Miriam Audrey - Too old.
Anna Caroline (again prn. Caroline not Carolyn) - Nice and simple.

Lorraine- Again, old fashioned.. I think of Quiche Lorraine which I don't particuarly like.
Channing- I don't like angrogenous names, and I think of chamming.. the noise someone makes when they chew with their mouth open & I cringe.
Jacey- It's a nickname, a sound.. Tracy/Stacy region of names, very unattractive.
Margaret- Ugly name, but it is a name so fair enough.
Eden (this one is reversible with Skye for me, I can't decide)- I shouldn't like Eden for all it's biblical connotations but I do find it's a very pretty sound. let's forget about the Garden of Eden because I like it then! Skye is also pretty but it's a little hippyish & blah.

Kale- It's a vegetable, and sounds rather thuggish
Kane- Again, thuggish sounding and harsh
Kellen- I think 'Hellen Keller' The deaf, dumb, and blind girl.
Nathaniel- I absolutely detest this name, I don't like the 'nath' sound but I do like Daniel. Nate is cool though..
Zane (this is reversible with Kevin)- Well don't have a Zane & Kane! I don't care for this either. Kevin is extremely dated & 80's.. holds zero appeal for me.

I agree this is fun, and sorry I didn't like your names..
But.. OP I really love some of yours- Jonas Rory,
Max Jeremiah, Miles Nicholas & Juliet Madeline (though I'd go with Madeleine) are wonderful.

I just remember seeing an excerpt of a play about her life and that's a line I remember- perhaps I took it out of context.
Dumb meaning not speaking, not stupidity but perhaps she could.

Oh I've nothing better do!

Annabel Viola -- I adore Annabel... Viola is not one of my favourites!
Amelia Soleil -- my first response was "oh how wrong".. lol. Amelia and Soliel are both on my "worst name ever list" for my personal use.
Esmé Ophelia -- Meh.. don't really care much about this one either..
Felicity Adelaide -- Adelaide is getting so popular! I know 3 Adelaide born within the last year!
Isla Marianna -- Again, not my cup of kool-aid, but it works well with your other names!

Finley Inigo -- I like Finley... I really do. I'm not sure how to pronounce Inigo... so I have no opinion.
Leo Maximillian -- Maximillian is so cool!
Lucas Milo -- meh.
Rory Alexander -- I love both of these names with a passion! Too bad they are used up in my family!
Sebastian Oscar -- Again, love both of these names!

Rosalie Margaret - Never like Rosalie (prefer Rosa, Rose, or Rosie) and Margaret makes me think of an old woman in the 20s.

Is Blair Linda intentionally suppose to bring back horrible "The Exorcist" memories?

Date: 2008-03-21 03:29 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] freezemyazaleas.livejournal.com
No. Blair and Linda happen to be my favorite girls' names, and I resent Linda Blair for being famous and stealing my names! I don't think it's a big deal, since it's just a middle name and not a lot of people will know it. It would be worse if I had two girls whose first names were Linda and Blair, right?

Robin Curtis - Robin always seems like more of a girl name to me.

Blair Linda - Blair's nice. I find Linda to be a bit old.
Kellen Alexandra (nn Kelly) - I don't really like Kellen but Kelly Alexandra's not bad.
Carey Allison - Nice.
Lesley Tara (prn Terra, not Tah-ruh.)- I'm not a fan of Lesley but I like Tara pronounced the way it is.

I hate Cain Lennon together, but love Lennon as a first name.
I like Liam. Not sure about Malachi.

I've been thinking about Lucy a lot lately, and I think I like it.
I like Jillian. It's my best friend's name.
Evengeline is a place where I live, a French community. It's ok.
I love Harper.
I've also been thinking about Molly lately, but I think I would use it as a nickname. I knew a girl named Molly and always thought it was kind of silly.

Of course! :)

Simon Philip, Simon SHOULD have been on my list! It is one of my top favorite names. I love how academic it sounds. :) Philip I absolutely hate, but only because I have never met a nice Phil.
Oliver James, Love love love both names! I adore James (but loathe the nicknames that come with it) and I really like Oliver, although it is so popular I doubt I could ever use it.
Felix Patrick, Adore Felix, hate Patrick, but I think it flows well.
Rowan Nicholas, Nicholas is my favorite name. :) Rowan makes me think of early American colonies and trendy celebrity names.
Aubrey Clayton, I like how this sounds, but I just can't give over thinking about Aubrey as a girl's name.

Clare Evelyn, I like Claire better, and it is a nice name, but the Breakfast CLub ruined it for me. Evelyn I hate for some unknown reason, but I think Clare Evelyn sounds very strong.
Amelia Rosalie, love Amelia! I don't like how both names end with an "i-vowel" combo, but other than that it works.
Matilda Clare, sigh...Matilda. This has been the top name on my list since I was a kid. I absolutely adore it! (Although, I must say, I am a bit bothered by how many lists I have seen it on recently--I just can't see it becoming the next Aiden/Jayden/Gayden.)
Norah Esme, this is my favorite name on your entire list. Stunning!!
Ruby Evelyn, not my fav. It seems like mixing a baby name with a really stuffy one. I guess I am just not the biggest fan of Ruby.

I love your taste! Most of your names are just lovely! :)

Holden Gabriel, a tad trendy, but I think I only say this because I always hated Catcher in the Rye. It flows nicely.
Killian James Love James, not so fond of Killian.
Noah Dean, OMG!! LOVE Dean. LOVE. And I like Noah, but like Noam better. :)
Cain Lennon, Actually, I like Cain. Lennon is a little junior high-ish for me.
Liam Malachi. LOVE LOVE. Malachi, Liam...it is perfect.
Your names have a very classic, and Irish style that I quite like. :)

Jillian...very nice, classic.
Evangeline (nn Evie), one of the only "old fashioned names" I really dislike. Evie is quite pretty.
Harper, despite my love for Harper Lee, I really dislike both the name and the trend factor around it.
Molly, so-so. It sounds friendly.

Yeah, my boys' list is kind of tragic right now. These are the only two names that I'd still seriously consider using. :-\

As for the middle names, Ruth is the middle name of my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Vivian I like the meaning of, and Ruth doesn't work with May or Jane. Joseph is to collectively honour my father and grandfathers, since their first names are all technically Joseph.

Guinevere Anne - Eh. I was never a big fan of "Guinevere," and I think it needs a more memorable middle name.
Rowena Audrey - Pretty. I wouldn't use it myself, but it's a neat combination.
Elinor Elaine - I like "Eleanor" better, but it's a pretty name overall. Maybe a bit repetitive with the "e" and "l" sounds.
Viola Jane - I prefer "Violet," but it's not bad.
Rhiannon Ophelia - a little much for my tastes. I speak as someone who also has a lot of syllables in her names. :)

Oliver Weston - Weston's sort of preppy, but I love Oliver.
Edmund Arthur - very Victorian! I wouldn't use it myself, but I like it.
Jasper William - again, this sounds sort of Victorian to me. Not as crazy about this one, though.
Ciaran Robert - not bad.
Connor Brandon - both names make me think of preppy boys. Don't really like it.

My favorites:

Juliet Noelle
Kathryn Victoire
Daphne Jane
Violet Alexis

You know, now that you point it out, Daphne Jane IS kind of plain. It flows together nicely, but I think I just picked "Jane" as a filler mn. Ah, well. I still love Daphne, so I will try to think of something better for the mn.

Ruby Adeline isn't a combo I would've thought up on my own, but I like it! I also really like the names Asher, Lucas, Noah, and Dominic.
