[identity profile] lolalena.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Hi everyone. My name is Lena (last name is Gregory), I'm currently 29w2d with my first, a boy. I'm stumped for names, so here are some of my favorites.

(Some are with middle names, some without.)

Arthur - as a middle name only.
Christian
Clark
Colby
Colton
Damien
Jacoby
James - middle name only
Jay - middle name only
Jude
Lucas
Quentin
Remy
Rowen
Tristen
Xavier

The combinations (first/middle) I like right now are;
Clark Christian (or Christian Clark)
Christian Xavier
Colby James
Colton James
Damien Lucas
Jacoby Arthur
Jude Arthur
Jude James
Remy James (Or Jay)
Rowen Arthur
Tristen Jay

None of these particularly stand out to me as far as 'omg must name my child this'. .. they're all just.. nice names, and I would use any of them, but I want something that really fits my baby. So I think I'll hold off on a 'definite' name until he's born, but I'd definitely like to decide on a possibility beforehand!

i don't really like jay as a middle name, it sounds very nickname-y to me and it reminds me of like mollie sue.

jude is a great name, but a lot of people predict that it's going to soar in popularity for the next few years i think because of that movie across the universe evidently harvesting a whole new generation of beatles fanatics. i personally haven't seen it used at all since the movie came out so it might be nothing to worry about at all, it's just something you might want to think about if your child having a common name might bother you.

that being said, the only names on your list that i particularly dislike are damien and jacoby. damien has connotations because of the omen, and i just don't think jacoby sounds nice. but one person on the internet telling you they don't like jacoby isn't reason enough for you not to give your son that name, so you can disregard that.

i really like christian clark, which is strange because i've always disliked the name christian in case the child does not want to be a christian later in life. christian xavier is also nice. i think my favorite on your list is rowen arthur, but i think the name looks better/is more common as rowan. jude arthur and remy james also stand out.

how about quentin xavier?

jude is a great name. i've always liked it and i didn't know it was a beatles reference until somewhat late in life, really. i knew a boy named jude growing up and i thought his name stood out among the chris's and ryans. lol we never listened to the beatles in my house and i didn't have internet access until high school, so.

i think damien has a nice sound to it. the connotation is enough to keep me from naming my kid that, but then again it isn't a favorite name of mine in the first place.

i didn't mean to insinuate that a boy named christian should automatically be a christian, but i went to private school until eighth grade and there were SO many boys named christian for that reason so i've always thought it would be weird if someone named christian decided to be an atheist, you know? it's a great name though, regardless of that. i too prefer christian clark, i think.

i think i like jude arthur most of the names you just listed. christian clark being a very close second. it probably really depends on what his last name will be, though. good luck. :)

Jude
Lucas

*~*~*~*
names with this list:

Quentin James

The combinations (first/middle) I like right now are:

Clark Christian (or Christian Clark) - i prefer the 2nd... but terrified of the possibility he'll end up being called 'C.C.'...
Christian Xavier - nuh uh
Colby James - too similar sounding to Colby Jack
Colton James - ... dunno...
Damien Lucas - ...on the fence
Jacoby Arthur - nopers
Jude Arthur - nope
Jude James - i don't like the full name, but can see the nn of 'J.J.' working... maybe Jonathan James?
Remy James (Or Jay) - i like this with James... i really do. :)
Rowen Arthur - nope
Tristen Jay - not with Jay... possibly with James though.

i like: james, jude, lucas, and rowan from your list. of the combo list, i like: christian xavier (i have a friend named kristian and i love it because of him probably), and jude arthur. i think rowan james is nice.

i really hope jude doesnt get as popular as the people here are saying. its my boys middle name, and his fathers middle name, and we have discussed using it as a sons first name, instead of making him john jude III. :(

I like Jude Arthur best (I personally think Judah Arthur, with nickname of Jude, flows better) and I think Rowen Jude/Judah would work very well :)

My youngest son is named Tristan. *nods* We went with Tristan David (in honor of his maternal grandfather). As far as your other names go, I like:

Arthur
Christian
Damien
James
Jude
Lucas
Rowen
Tristan

It's a shame that you don't like Arthur as a first name, as it's such a wonderful name. *nods*

From your combinations I like:

Damien Lucas
Jude Arthur
Rowen Arthur

I do NOT like Tristen Jay. Sorry. Maybe I'm partial.

Suggestions for pairings based off of the names you've given:

James Arthur Gregory
Tristan James Gregory
Arthur Jude Gregory (Though you're not wanting to use Arthur as a first name)
Damien James Gregory (I LOVE this name for some inexplicable reason.)

I'll get back to you if I have any suggestions that you haven't already listed!

My name is Lena too. :]
I've always loved Damien, especially standing by itself.
