I like Raven and River for girls, not so much for boys, though I don't mind River for a boy. Meadow is sort of pretty. Heaven and Lovely are pretty awful.
Although maybe Raven on a boy... they'd have to grow into the type of person who could really pull it off....rock star...painter...I couldn't see a suit guy named Raven... Problem is you can't really guarantee what your children will be called to. He may end up changing his name.
If my name were Lovely, I'd probably be really paranoid, waiting for the accident that would involve acid disfiguring my face.
Meadow is sort of a guilty pleasure of mine, because I think it's such a beautiful word. I'd definitely never use it, though. Maybe on a pet...
At work the other day, I was in the vending machine room and a customer was there with her toddler. The woman was taking an extraordinarily long time deciding what she wanted from the snack machine. Her kid kept wandering out of the room, and the woman would hiss through clenched teeth, "Heaven! Come here! Heaven! Get. Over. Here. NOW." I wanted to say, "It ain't that easy, babe," but I decided to mind my own business (besides, what the hell, who calls people "babe"?).

Date: 2008-03-20 05:00 am (UTC)Raven sounds nice for a character in a fantasy/sci-fi novel, haha.
Heaven is awful, and Lovely is even worse...
