Initials!

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but do potential initials combinations affect your naming decisions?

For instance, my boyfriend's last name starts with M. Therefore, I would never be able to name a future son Michael Owen or daughter Michelle Olivia. (MOM)

My initials are TEN, and I've always thought it was cool. For all of you fellow nerds out there, my sister has the initials TMN. If she marries someone who has a last name starting with a T and hyphenates her last name like my mom did, her initials would be TMNT. :)

Thoughts? Does anyone here have initials that are really crazy (for example, ASS)?

My friend's brother's initials are ASS. He really enjoys it as his initials, for some reason. Also, I knew a girl whose initials were MLE.

Mine are JJG--nothing fun. :\

For the record, I don't think initials are that important. I like Micheal Owen (ok, MOM might be a little weird for a boy) and Michelle Olivia.

My hubby's are JIG (and yes, he's Scotch-Irish!) and our oldest's are KEG. I'm sure she'll appreciate that when she gets to college. ;)

lol oh god... ok, i had a friend in high school, Nate, who already has his first son's name picked out b/c it'll be funny and when his son's in high school, "kick @$$".

Edward Zachary. Nice name right?

the last name is Ryder.

so his son's name would be: E.Z. Ryder

*eye roll* boys. lol.

My brother's former friend's surname starts with an S, and he wanted to name his firstborn son Andrew Samuel so that his initials would spell out ASS. My brother decided to be a copycat, and because his surname starts with an E, he decided that he'd name his firstborn son Henry Oscar so that his initials would spell HOE. I tried to explain to him that it's not spelled like that, but he's a teenage boy and doesn't care.

Been thinking about this a lot. My last name starts with an "N" and I love Mae Allison, but then her initials are MAN. We also like Victoria Mae Allison, but then, even worse, VMAN. As in, "that guy's a real V-MAN!" LOL. Yeah, frat boy name, fo' sure.

As long as they're not, like, POO or ASS, it doesn't bear a HUGE impact on my thinking, although MOM might be kind of awkward now that I think about it. Heh.

Mine were BMW before I got married. That was pretty cool. Initials aren't important to me, but they can be a bonus if they happen to have some sort of meaning.

My initials are MCR... like My Chemical Romance. ~_~;

The full name that we had picked out for our son would have made his initials HOES... so we're switching the middle names around so that it spells HEOS.

that also spells Modena City Ramblers :) it's a ska band in Italy, and they commonly go by that for short!

Our last name starts with a G so I have to be careful. My favorite boy name honors both of my grandfathers, but spells out HAG for the initials. I don't want a HAG! :) Our cat's initials are RAG. Undoubtedly I'm going to be very conscientious of what my children's initials are.

My initials (MLF) didn't bother me until the American Pie movies came out. Now, everyone that notices them (which is a lot of people, because my initials are on my license plates, which I had before the movies) comments on that connotation.

dont care for initials as nobody uses the initials here in germany

maybe I would think twice if it would be ass or something really mean..but that would be the only reason...

mom is in my opinion really fine

Initials are actually the last thing I consider. I didn't think most people even cared about something like that.

Well, I don't care it it spells harmless words like CAR or PEN, but I would make an effortt to avoid ASS, DIK, TIT and also things like HAG or DUD. you know, not good words...

My nephew's initials are PUP, he likes it.

I don't care about initials, here in Belgium we never use them anyway.

My friend's little brother used to be Adam Scott S. but once they realized it they had his name legally changed to Scott Adam though he still goes by Adam.

I have a friend who was supposed to be A.S.S., but her parents named her A.R.S. instead - not much better!

My initials are S.F.B. ... nothing exciting, sadly.

My best friend has called me AK-47, but she's weird. My initials are AJK by the way.

I don't really think about initials that much. The only initials I'd be vehemently opposed to are FAG or NIG.

I don't think it's a big deal if it's an innocuous word like MOM, but if it's something like PMS or even BLO it would bother me.

My initials are TV. I have no middle name. My sister's are WV, which I always thought cool because you can just squiggle on down for all of it. Y'know: \/\/\/.

It's definitely something I consider, though not the most important thing. My fiance's last name starts with K, and I would want my future daughter's middle name to be Ann, so I'm trying to avoid falling in love with girl names that start with C, K, etc.

My old roommate's full name spells out PIG. She's kinda ghetto, so we call her the "Notorious P.I.G." ;o)

I have a friend whose initials are BMW. I think that's pretty cool!

I have also met people whose initials are CNS (Central Nervous System), PBS (broadcasting company), AMC (movie theater chain), ESL (English as a Second Language...although it wasn't her second language...how funny would that be?), and TLC (t.v. channel).

i have 2 neighbors (sisters) who are SAD and RED. i'm NSM which is MSN backwards, but i cant see it being anything else all that interesting.

then again, i already won at the "my name backwards" lottery because my name is naomi, and when van wilder came out everyone loved to tell me that my name was "i moan" backwards. yeah, i know.

i'm not changing my name when i get married, but if i did, it would be NSP.
