The top 100 baby names of 2005 are out already! The social security site never releases the top 1000 until May, but this looks legit to me!

http://www.babycenter.com/general/babynaming/pregnancy/1459677.html

Thoughts?

Edit: Looking closer, it's just the top names from surveyed babycenter members, not the official list for the US. That makes more sense, but it's still interesting.

Almost 20 years later and my name is STILL in the top 100 hundred. lol

I figured Aiden would be the top boy name, man I see that name everywhere. :)

Thus giving an average of 34 spellings per name.
OMFG we're doomed!

Sure as hell wouldn't want to be kindergarten teacher in 2010, having to deal with the fall out of such madness.

Hah, no kidding. I am seventeen and Samantha is number 20. I have a feeling I will always run into another Samantha as long as I live and I hate having to say my own name.

thank you :) i used to hate it because I thought of it as a boy name but now i love it-except i hate having to correct people who dont know me (for example when i make Dr. appts and they ask for the name, as soon as i say Christian, they assume i'm making the appt for either my husband or a son! And on every official document i've ever had-they've addressed it to MR Christian E. hehe It was a real pain when i was in the Navy and they had to fix all of my records in boot camp! sorry i'm rambling..it's late here (japan). i need sleep

Aw I could imagine. I would probably get really frustrated if I had to deal with that so often.

I imagine the top 10 names will be pretty much similar to the SS list, but it's really just an overview of those parents who use the site. There are no hispanic/ethnic names on there either.
I do like the fact that they have grouped together names spelt different but with the same pronunciation, but i can think of lots of names that look like they should be pronounced differently but arent.
Esme/Esmé
Jessica/Jeseeka (accent on the -seek- part, belongs to an asian friend of mine)
Sarah/Sara
I'm annoyed to find Ava at number 10, though i knew it would be rather high i was hoping it wouldnt be so high- i'll have to take that off my list if it's up there when the official numbers come up.

Yup, seem all the major trends are present and correct.
Good indication of said trends, and what's hot amongst [fairly] name savy folks. Probably not a good indication of the general populace though.

Nice enough names, but probably wouldn't use any myself as they're obviously getting over done. Prefer unusual names, unless I've a really good reason for using them (like Dylan, shame that's there).

I'd assume that the SS list will still have the classic boy names closer to the top. For example, Michael is almost always #1 or at least in the top 5. On this list, it's #12. I find that odd.

Amazingly enough, my name is itching closer and closer. Finally. Haha. #59, according to this list. Yay!

I think, and have always thought, that Aiden is the worst boy's name ever. Apparently I'm alone on that one.
