 I actually thought of a name that hubby likes!

Madelyn Mae.  Except I'm not fond of the "y", but I don't know how else to spell it without it looking klike Madeline, which is pronounced differently. Thoughts?

i believe madeline can be pronounced either way...either with the "lynn" ending or the "line" ending. or madeleine?

It's french, & pronounced Mad-e-layne ..
but in English speaking countries every Madeleine I've encountered goes by Mad-e-lyn pronunciation. I'd never pronounce it Mad-a-line.

Thanks! There are lots of Mae's in my family, so it has a place. :) And it's sounds very Southern to me, which works cuz my mom's whole family is from the south.

My sister says she's gonna call her Maddy Mae. :)

There a Hanson's song called Madeline and they pronounce it like you do.
I don't think Madelyn is bad, but I don't like that there's confusion over Madeline being pronounced that.

I do think Madelyn Mae is kind of redundant, especially because M, a and e are already included in Madelyn.

What's the difference in the pronounciation? I knew a Madeleine and I swear she pronounced it Mad-e-line, but we just called her Maddy so I could be wrong.

I have known two girls who spelled it Madelon. It's not pronounced Mad-eh-LINE. It's pronounced Mad-eh-LIN. Maybe you could use that instead. It's a legit spelling (albeit slightly unusual) and nobody would pronounce it the other way. Although you might get people saying Mad-eh-LON instead...

Great name! My older daughter is Madelyn Elizabeth. I did the "y" spelling for pronouciation also, but you can pronouce it the same way with the Madeline spelling.

Madeline and Madeleine are usually pronounced like Madelyn, except in the case of the little girl in the books. My niece is Madeline, pronounced like Madelyn, and no one reads it wrong.
