One of My Favorite Names
Mar. 10th, 2008 02:32 amI've always LOVED the name Alexandria for a wee girl. I actually took care of a wee girl who was named Alexandria in the daycare center I used to volunteer at. She was a sweetheart and smart as anything. Her nickname was Lexi. I've always liked that nickname as well. If I did name one of my wee girls Alexandria, I'd use Lexi as a nickname and Faith as a middle name. What does everyone think?

Date: 2008-03-12 03:28 pm (UTC)so you and she may still have to deal with that. and i personally, HATED it when ppl would go, 'oh Alexandria! how pretty. i can call you Lexi right? or Lexus?" wtf?! NO! lol so i can't stand that nn. also, b/c i get flashbacks to superman...
there are other nn's though that your kid can choose from as she grows:
Alex, Ale/Ali/Ally, Andria, Xandria... so if you like Lexi than go for it. :) but let her know she has options ha ha ha.
my nn is Alix, but my dad gave it to me since he named me after Egypt, but also had a soft spot for Russian history. so i'm really partial to my nn. :D
there are worse names to give your kid. Alexandr(i)a is a sturdy and long lasting name. it's not uber popular, but common enough that people will know how to spell it. It's timeless i guess.
