So, I'm fairly certain that my first daughter will be called either Natalie or Natalia... but I'm having a VERY difficult time deciding between the two as I love both names.

Just out of interest... which one do you prefer?

In english, Natalie :)
Natalia in english can be a mouthful.

Ooh, love them both! We prefer Natalia, though, more feminine sounding. :)

I prefer Natalia, but only based on the fact that I've met one really nice Natalia, and about 4 horrible Natalies

Natalia

I don't like either much, but I hate Natalie

Natalia but I may be biased because it's my cousin's name.

natalia sounds more dramatic while natalie in the american context reminds me of strippers.

Definitely Natalie.

I like both, but I think Natalia is prettier.

Natalia, because there are so many Natalies running around, but not as many Natalias.

I really prefer Natalie, unless you're strongly Italian or something.

Natalia, ftw!

I like both. I think it should depend on how each flows with your last name and whatever middle name you choose.

I'm having the same trouble with Rhianne/Rhianna/Rhiannon and Susan/Suzanne/Susannah. They're basically the same names, so it's really just a matter of which sounds best in combination with the baby's other names.

I like Natalie a lot better. I was almost named that.

Name her Natalia and use Natalie as a nickname. Weird thing is, I'm writing a book and I was caught in the same situation. So I'm doing what I just suggested to you. =D

I don't like it as a nn... Idk why, either.

*shrug* If that's the case, I suggest Natalia. It's prettier, IMO, and not as common as Natalie.

Just so you know, the nickname for Natalie ends up being Nat or Natty. Both of which I hated as a kid. I think Natalia might be better, because you could go with Talia instead of Natty.

Yeah but I always associated it with 'gnat' and felt like a bug.

I like Natalia infinitely more. It's more interesting, and I don't like -ee names.

Natalia
My name's actually Natalie, but Natalia is a more interesting name, in my opinion.

My name is Natalie, and as a kid I always wished it was Natalia, because it sounded more exotic.
Now they are both popular, so I don't think it would make as much difference.
I still vote Natalia.

To me, Natalia is more feminine, more elegant, more exotic, and less popular than Natalie, and I prefer it for those reasons. Natalie isn't a bad name either. It just depends on what you're going for.
