I am an English nut...

Rosalind from As You Like It is one of my favorite characters of all time. It was my first exposure to Shakespeare. But it's wayyyyy too, well, odd for me to bring it up to my husband. But I thought if I had other versions of it in mind, we could work with it.

So, what do you think would be a more modern version? Like Rosemary or Rose?

TIA!! :)

Rosalind is a lovely name and not odd or unusual at all-- a little of that can do a baby/child/person good. It's not much of a risk. If you like it, you should go for it.

I see from your icon that you're due in August. I'm expecting a September baby. Hope you are doing well.

I actually think Rosalind sounds more modern than Rosemary or Rose.

Rosalind is odd?! I, um, disagree. Not somebody's style, I can understand, but ODD isn't a word I previously ever thought could describe it.

But if your other half is really that white-bread-no-crusts-no-condiments-no-spices, then (as others have mentioned) you can name her Rosalind and he can call her Rose. Or Linda? I don't know... how odd is too odd?

Rosalyn, Rosaline and Rosalind are all fine, I think. I don't think it's too odd to bring up at all, I think you should at least mention it!

I don't think Rosalind is odd at all. Rose, Rosa, Roz, and Linda could all be nicknames for it.

Rosaline might appeal to your husband a little more. I wouldn't exactly call Rose a modern version, since it's the root of Rosalind, but it is more common, so yes, it works. Rosemary is a bit of a stretch, but still nice--I associate it more with the herb than with roses.

i think rosalind is really pretty, and your husband could just call her rose if its not simple enough for him. seems like every other name has been suggested already, so how about roselle?
