I don't think so. I look mostly at meanings when searching for names.

From iVillage:
Cora
Greek for 'maiden'.

Kara
Greek for 'one of purity; beloved'.

I think it's a little too close for siblings, but for cousins I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Definetly too close for siblings, but hmm think they'd be alright for cousins.

My family calls me Ferry. My grandmother's name is Sherry. My aunt's name is Mary. This is no fun. I personally like Cora better than Kara, but I wouldn't do it. Sorry.

I think since they're cousins it'll be fine, for siblings - too close.

Cora is a very beautiful name!

I think it would be fine, probably only slightly confusing for grandparents. My family has three Simones and BUNCHES of Anthonys, and it never causes problems, suprisingly!

It might be too close if they were sisters, but for cousins it's fine.

I'd talk to your sister about it and see what see thinks. And maybe think about how you would feel. If your daughter was already named Cora, would your sister using Kara annoy you?

If it's *the* name, you're probably ok. But if it was me and there was another name we really liked, it would probably be enough to stear me away from Cora.

Same as what they said.

Personally, I wouldn't choose a name so close to what my sister chose. And if my sister picked a name that similiar to what I named my child, I'd be peeved. People aren't going to look into meanings of names when they hear them... they'll just notice that they sound similiar. There are SO MANY names out there... pick something else.

I was just thinking, how about Coral? I knew a Coral once.

I love the name cora...and i dont think for cousins that they are too close. I think the names Cora and Kara are enough of a difference. Its your child so pick whatever you want. I wouldnt worry about it because cora is a gorgeous name

Oh and my aunt used the same middle name as mine for my cousin
