Dec. 30th, 2005 12:18 amalrighty hey what's up.
in a perfect world, i will have four children... boy, girl, girl, boy. mhm. this is what i'd name them, if i had them right now:
Arjen Alexander Black
Magdalena Renee Black
Emmanuelle Nazarette Morgan Black
Dmitri Jules Black
--
now, i'm waiting for the flaming lmao but i'll try and shortly explain...
Arjen is a dutch name, and it would normally be pronounced 'ah-ree-un' or something along those lines... no. Ar-zhen. simple. :) Renee is a recent development... i had been considering Kennedy instead, until i realized how poorly it flowed. i have been DEAD SET on Emmanuelle Nazarette as long as i have been on my own name. it has deep meaning for me, despite the fact that i'm not christian. but i started to feel bad, and although i hate to do it... though a second middle name might be helpful incase she REALLY despises her name. and Morgan is convienantly a tribute to three of my friends at once. :-P i tried to give them all fairly normal middle names for this reason.
Dmitri Jules is very tentative, as it just developed today (i hadn't thought of a fourth name yet).
ANYWAY, what i ask is: what would you expect a person with these names to look like, act like, personalities, etc. whatever comes to mind. i'm the kind of person that really loves doing this sort of thing, and i hope others would like to, also? i'd be curious to see the responses. :D

Date: 2005-12-29 11:37 pm (UTC)Well actually I just thought of something. The middle two (Mag & Em) sound very Biblical and I would expect a prim and prudish little Catholic girls. I can't help but think of Mary Magdalene, gah. I like Kennedy better with that, too. Oh and I'd probably call her Maggie.
I hate the four names. It sounds like a huge mouthful and it's awkward. I understand why you want Morgan in there, and that's a dilemma. Because yeah, those ARE two very strong names that she could end up really hating and wouldn't be able to do much with. But wow, what a mouthful.
I like the first one just fine, except I think "Ar-yin" which I think sounds better anyway.

Date: 2005-12-30 06:04 am (UTC)The set put together suggests to me the family are either European or travel there a lot, are quite well educated and sophisticated.
Those aren't names I'd use myself, but still really like them. They have pretty good potential nicknames too.

Date: 2005-12-30 07:32 am (UTC)Having said that, while the names are a bit pretentious, I think they're rather nice. Except Emmanuelle Nazarette Morgan. Morgan does not fit at all! And Em. Naz. is really over the top, even if you were Christian (heck, I'm Catholic, and it's way too much) - it just screams Jesus!! It makes me think of a born again Christian who changed her name after her conversion!

Date: 2005-12-30 04:41 pm (UTC)and hey, i can't say i'm not a pretentious person. :-P
children carve out their own identity.
oh, of course. i'm just interested in that sort of thing. i write, and when i name a character it has to like... fit. so i guess that's why i like that sort of thing. but yes, you are right. i wouldn't think that a name would dictate their personalities, rofl. that'd be silly. just curious, y'know? :D

Date: 2005-12-30 10:23 am (UTC)Arjen Alexander Black - slightly gothic and quite quite
Magdalena Renee Black - attractive but knows it, a nerd. And religious.
Emmanuelle Nazarette Morgan Black - less attractive than her sister and quite butch (I've only known Emmanuelle a a male name. It also makes me think of the porn films.)
Dmitri Jules Black - He's alright, loud and popular enough.
