Can't Decide!
Mar. 2nd, 2008 11:49 pmWhich spelling do you prefer..Killian or Cillian.
I know Cillian is the more traditional way of spelling it, but do you think some people might mispronounce it like "Sillian"?
But on the other hand, if it were Killian, would people automatically think of Killian brand beer?

Date: 2008-03-03 07:11 am (UTC)I agree, I like Cillian better; however, I'm not too keen on the name in general because it has the word "kill" in it.

Date: 2008-03-03 02:14 pm (UTC)I was taught that a "c" followed by an "i" always has the sound of "s". I know normal pronunciation rules don't always work for proper names, but I can't seem to make myself stop on this one.
It also reminds me of "cilia", those little hair-like things that paramecia use to swim around...
As for Killian reminding some one of the beer brand... I happen to like Killian's Irish Red... :)

Date: 2008-03-03 06:36 pm (UTC)But then, Killian has "kill" in it, which is kind of weird. Plus the beer.
I would not use this name haha.
