What do you think of the name Amber, spelled Ambre?

I'm not considering it, but I'm watching Rock of Love with Bret Michaels, and one of the girls' name is spelled like this. Everytime I see the name, I want to say it with a weird accent, like ahm-BRAY or something.... sort of Spanish, sort of French.

It's the French word for amber.

I keep wanting to say "ahm-BRAY" too... I don't like that spelling at all!

I don't even like Amber spelled that way, so I'm definitely not a fan of this one. I want to pronounce it the same way you do.

It's pronounced AHM-br in french.
I prefer Amber or Ambra.

In order to have ahm-BRAY you'd have to spell it Ambray or Ambré(e), but it would be kind of silly, I'm afraid :P

I would definitely say it Ahm-bra [with more a soft/silent a at the end of -bra], like the French pronunciation.

I want to say that "Ombr." And I don't like it.

It would sound like "am-b" with very little pronunciation of the "b".

It's trashtastic. Amber (and all its permutations) is pretty much done, pr0n has ruined it.

Ambre in french is pronounced "OHMBr" if that helps (very small r)

What about:

Ember
Emer
Emory
Amory

They have the same feel without being trashy-sounding.

I don't like it but I actually do like Amber even though it's a stereotypical stripper name.

I don't like it. It looks like it's trying to be fancier than it is.
