Met a woman (mid 40's) today that goes by Lady. Turns out that is a nn for Adelaide. I like it. She said that Adelaide wasn't a popular name when she was a kid and her friends started calling her Lady and it stuck.

Adelaide, NN Lady. WDYT?

I like Adelaide, but not the nickname Lady.

Been seriously considering Adelaide myself. I'm not sure if I like the nickname "Lady" but I don't really dislike it either. I prefer the nick' "Addy".
*sigh* I think the big three for me now are Adelaide, Katherine and Juliet. Probably all three with the middle name Rose.

It reminds me of lemonade for some reason. Similar end sound I guess.

I like it when I picture it spelled Leidy or Laidey or something, but when I picture it Lady it makes me think of a pet's name or what angry drivers call each other.

As long as she signs stuff with Adelaide, it could be worse.

Nicknames are something you can't avoid.

My name is Courtney and my frequently used nicknames are:

MC
Court
Coney
Tollfree (my little brother couldn't say my name, so this is what came out)
Lucy (been called that since I was little, don;t know why. My brother is Patrick and they always called him Duke. Duke and Lucy! Come for supper!)

My sister gets Ray and Rocky (Rachel). She gets Rach sometimes, but hates it.

I actually read this name (and the same nickname) in a book, i thought it was kinda neat, but Lady seems like a dog name after disney...

I like the name Adelaide, but had never thought about that nn before. I kind of like it though. It reminds me of Almost Famous though, as Penny Lane's real name was Lady.

If I just heard Lady and didn't know it was short for Adelaide, I think I would hate it (reminds me of Lady & The Tramp and it was my the name of my friend's dog) but I think it's kind of endearing and cute knowing what it's short for.

I quite like it! Lady as its own name would be ridiculous, but as a nickname, almost anything goes. I think I would like it even better if you spelled it Ladie.

I like it. It's really feminine, very Victorian-ish in a way. :)

All I can think of is one of her friends seeing her down the street and having to yell, "HEY LADY!"
