First of all I miss spelled it, it's Tenley, she is a one of my preschool kids. She is named after a family friend Tenley Emma Albright, an American figure skater who contracted polio at age 11, but won the U.S. figure skating championship in 1952 and the silver medal in the 1952 Olympics. In 1956, she became the first American woman to win the Olympic gold medal in figure skating. In 1976, Albright was appointed to a seat on the U.S. Olympic Committee, the first woman to hold that position.
This is a picture of her.

See! Not a made up name!

Date: 2008-02-29 01:41 am (UTC)I think working with kids and running into all kinds of names makes one a little more open to different names. Do you like the name Baylor? I have a little girl named Baylor in my class. I like the name, but I don’t think I would use it.
What are some names that you like?

Date: 2008-02-29 01:45 am (UTC)I don't mind 'made up' names myself. I like the idea of being the first of something.

Date: 2008-02-29 01:54 am (UTC)I think it makes them even more unique. At some point every name was used for the first time!

Date: 2008-02-29 02:08 am (UTC)I don't know why I got the grief that I did about names being 'made up'. So what if a name is made up? Plus, none of the names on there I just pulled out of my head. They where all from sites on from post from others on here.
I'm all for being honest but a few people where down right rude commenting on my list. If you don't like a name that's just fine, but it's not your list, not your child. Just think about someone's feelings before you tell them that you think a name is ugly, or hideous, and not to name their child that.
ps: I like Tykin. : )

Date: 2008-02-29 02:19 am (UTC)Thanks! I like Tykin too. He will probably just go by Ty most of the time, but I still love the whole name. My number one girl's name is Kaylea (pronounced Kay-lee), which, if I remember correctly, was on your list spelled differently? =)

Date: 2008-02-29 02:40 am (UTC)Caileigh, Caleigh (from the forest). Mostly because of the from the forest part. I was told that it was 'One of the trashiest names.. this spelling is pretty horrendous.' from the person above. Ok... that is the direct spelling from the Gaelic form of that name.... anyway.
Kaylea is really cute too. : )

Date: 2008-02-29 02:49 am (UTC)I am familiar with Tenley Albright, and knew that the name wasn't made up. And if I had to choose a T name for my child, I'd consider Tenley.

Date: 2008-02-29 03:27 am (UTC)I don't get this "it's made up" thing. Just because someone never heard it before it must be "made up." And what is so bad about something being made up???
