I caught the tail end of a show and the boy talking during the credits was named Thom, pronouced as 'Tom'. Since I didn't see the show, I don't know if it was short for Thomas or not. I kinda like it, it's a funky way to write out a plain name, but on the other hand, it looks like someone randomly added an H for the fun of it or that the H should be pronouced. What do you guys think?

Yeah, I've seen that before. It's rather accepted.

I like it either way, as Thom or Tom (pronounced the same). It makes sense not to pronounce the H in Thom because the H is not pronounced in Thomas.

Well Thomas is spelt with an H, so I don't see why Tom shouldn't be spelt Thom. It's kind of cute actually.

I think it is quite common for Thomas to be shortened to Thom or Tom. The lead singer of Radiohead is Thom Yorke. I like it.

I think it is far more typical in the UK and Australia than in the US, but I've noticed it's gaining popularity here.

like Thom from Queer Eye!

I think it's cool. But I definitely thought of it as thom instead of tom the first time I saw it spelled that way.

Thom is the last name of a friend of mine so I just see it as a surname, unfortunately :P

If my name were Thomas, I'd spell it "Thom". I don't see why people eliminate the H when they are nicknaming themselves. The H isn't there for the last part of the name, it's there for the first part therefore I believe it should be kept like that. I really like Thom as a nickname versus Tom - it does look funky, but not in a omgz sooper dooper kr8iv way.
