Who would name their child after a vegetable?

Isn't that what Cale is (only spelled with a K?)

why would you need a nickname for a 2 syllable name (of 5 letters no less)?

"Need" isn't usually the issue. Like:

John=Jack
Robert=Bob
Samuel=Sam
Caleb=Cal or Cale
Nicole=Nikki (that's not ANY shorter than the original)

I only like Cael, and I think Cael Aidan or Cael Tegan sound nice... something Irish.

Cale Alexander is what came to mind first. I think that has a nice ring to it.

One-syllabled names are difficult to pick middle names for, imo. I'd try to find a three-syllabled name that I like to go with that. Something like (don't freak out if you hate these suggestions) - Jamieson, Davidson, Waverly. Does your mother's maiden name have three syllables? Try that. I know of people who've used family last names as their child's middle name, and I'm planning to do the same.

my husband is a Cale and his mom came up with Cale Matthew.

But I think Andrew sounds good too.

(BTW Cale is a great name...I have only met two boys and one girl with that name in my entire life...excellent.)
