[identity profile] bohemianvegan.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
It seems that most of the names are those that begin with common letters like A, B, C, S, etc. Not very many names begin with "O", "Q", "U", "X", "Y", or "Z". Let's think of some names that begin with those, there are some good ones, some not so good.

Z--Zachary, Zechariah, Zander, Zavion, Zoe, Zara, Zaria, Zandra
Y--Yesenia, Yasmine, Yasmina, Yulissa, Yessica
X-Xavier, Xaviera, Xanthe (zan-thi),
Q--Quentin, Quiana, I don't know much of what else.
U--Ulysses like U.S. Grant. that's something not used much now. Ursula, like the sea witch.
O--Oswald (dont like), Olin, Owen, Ophelia, Opal

Well, this isn't really what you're asking at all, but I once saw a couple of babies (on the Maury show, of course) named Quavius and Xzorion (pn egg-Zory-on). My husband and I joke about those names all the time.

In seriousness, though, there are Zane, Xiomara (she was on ANTM), Quincy, and Otto. The only one of those i like, though, is Zane.

I find that I generally dislike Z names but I do like Zachary/Zachariah and Zoe. I also dislike most X names.

One of my favorite names is Zane.

But that's all I can think of that you don't already have!

I wanted to get Owen a velvet monogram stocking from Target this past Christmas to match the 'J' [Jennifer] and 'S' [Scott] stockings that my husband and I already own.

They did not have any 'O' stockings on the shelf. =/

With the popularity of Olivia, Oliver, and Owen, that's definitely a little strange!

Not exactly the same thing, but I have an X in my name. My sister has a V.

And one boy name choice for my fiancé and I was Xavier (which has both an X and a V).

Yael ("Yigh-elle" is how I've heard it pronounced, though it reminds me of "y'all" and I'm from the south, so it's not my cup of tea personally)

Yves

I prefer my z's WITHIN the name better than starting out the name.

Oda
Odette
Odille
Quirine
Yara
Zana
Zaria
Zeliha
Zorah

Otis
Onno

I absolutely loathe U or W names. I've never come across one I even remotely liked. I don't know why.

I really like Odette/Odille though. And Zorah&Otis.

I like Zacharee for a girl, but only as a middle name I think.
Don't think I've seen Xaviara yet either, that's a feminine version of Xaviar, as you could probably guess.
For O there's Oberon and Ottilie, and I quite Like Yves and Yseult.
Zoey isn't too bad, but I don't like any other spellings of the name, and I still think Zoey is a bit daft looking.
Oh, and Winifred for W
